Greetings!,

I just received a card from a dear friend celebrating the solstice, Amelia Mitchellhonoring both the light and the darkness. What a gift to be reminded of this natural cycle.

In these days of holiday bustle, I encourage you to pause and remember we are in the depth of the darkest days of the year.  Be gentle to yourself, honor this darkness, the contrast.  Dive in where you can, and seek the warmth and the light when you feel its absence, play with it.

For this moment, can you take a few deep breaths, allow your mind and body to calm a bit?  Now feel the darkness and then remind yourself that the light will return, as it has for millenia.  Feel the light returning, to warm, nurture and nourish us.

My blessings go out to you this month.

ps: speaking of warmth, we have amazing new table warmers this year.
Gift Giving
Is a joy and sometimes a challenge.  Gift certificates are often toted as the perfect solution.  I would like to offer some guidelines to decide if a massage gift certificate is the perfect gift.

Perfect Gift:
  1. Have they expressed interest or curiosity about massage?
  2. Do they have a complaint or a pain that could be alleviated with massage.
  3. Are they comfortable with touch?
  4. Do they make an effort to take care of themself?
  5. Have they made some personal changes this year?
  6. Do they deserve to be gifted with nurturing touch?
Not so Perfect:
  1. They really "should"  get a massage.
  2. They turned down a massage on the cruise last year.
  3. If you give it to them they will feel guilty and have to get a massage.
