Happening Now: The Second of Two Military Academies Trips to Israel
JINSA's Military Academies Program in Israel has doubled the number of cadets and midshipmen who visit Israel in 2012. The second of the two trips to Israel is happening right now. As one of JINSA's flagship programs, the Military Academies Program in Israel takes American military cadets and midshipmen to Israel to meet and engage in discussions with young Israeli military officers. It was created to enable future U.S. officers to make personal contacts in a country whose security is intimately tied to that of the United States.

Happening Now: JINSA's Leadership Trip to Israel
A group of JINSA's leadership is currently in Israel to meet with political, military, intelligence and other significant leading authorities. The agenda combines elements of JINSA's Generals and Admirals Trip and the LEEP Trip for Law Enforcement Executives as well as drawing on JINSA's extensive relationships and expertise in Israel. The purpose of this leadership trip is to educate the participants about the current security situation in Israel. The primary areas of concern include changes resulting from the "Arab Spring," the dangers posed by Iran and possible outcomes, and the current status of the Palestinian-Israeli "peace process." Highlights of the trip include a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategic Affairs Moshe "Bogie" Ya'alon, who previously served as IDF Chief of Staff; Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon who served as Ambassador to the United States from 2002-2006; and a visit to the Israel Bomb Squad Training and R&D Center in Beit Shemesh.

Lt. General David Fridovich, USA (ret.), Director of JINSA's new Gemunder Center for Defense and Strategies, spoke to JINSA members in Boston and New York about the lessons learned on the ground in Israel while traveling with JINSA's Generals and Admirals Trip to Israel in May. He also shared insights into the role of USSOCOM in Iraq, Afghanistan, and over 70 countries worldwide.

JINSA Holds Spring 2012 Board Meeting
JINSA held its 2012 Spring Board Meeting on June 3-4 in Washington, DC. Highlights of the meeting included a briefing by Major General Gadi Shamni, the Israel Defense and Armed Forces Attaché to the United States & Canada. JINSA's Board also spent a day at the Pentagon as guests of U.S. Special Operations Command.
