Spring/Summer Issue of the Journal of International Security Affairs is Available for iPad, Kindle and is in Bookstores Now!
We are delighted to announce that the 2012 Spring/Summer issue of the Journal of International Security Affairs is now available! The new issue focuses on the first year of the popular revolt dubbed the Arab Spring and also explores how Asia has become a dominant factor in American economic, political, diplomatic, and military planning. Unique analysis of the economic situation in Egypt by David P. Goldman, author of How Civilizations Die (and Why Islam is Dying, Too), leads to the conclusion that Egypt is headed for disaster. In addition, Director of the Jewish Policy Center in Washington, DC Matthew RJ Brodsky writes about the situation in Syria and how America should be responding. An article by Gordon G. Chang, author of The Coming Collapse of China explores how political changes in the PRC are increasingly challenging American assumptions about engaging China.

In early May, JINSA hosted Dr. Anat Berko, a world-renowned terrorism expert who focuses on suicide bombers and their handlers. In her brief to JINSA members and invited Washington policymakers, Berko touched on a range of issues that included Islamist terrorist justifications for suicide bombing, tactics used to recruit suicide bombers, and the phenomena of female suicide bombers. Berko is a member of both Israel's Counter-Terrorism Team and Israel's National Security Council and is a key counter-terrorism advisor to senior Israeli government officials. In 2003, after a 25-year military career where she achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, she retired from the Israel Defense Forces. Berko's research draws on knowledge gained from personal interviews with dozens of incarcerated terrorists. She holds a Ph.D. in Criminology from Bar-Ilan University and is the author of The Path to Paradise: The Inner World of Suicide Bombers and Their Dispatchers. |
