Conference Call with Former Deputy Commander of U.S. Forces Korea on the Implications of Kim Jong-il's Death
On December 21, 2011, Lt. Gen. Stephen G. Wood, USAF (ret.), former Deputy Commander, U.S. Forces Korea, briefed JINSA leaders via conference call on the theater and regional implications of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il's death. Retired in January 2009, General Woods' last assignment was Deputy Commander, U.S. Forces Korea and its companion UN assignment - Deputy Commander, United Nations Command.

Integrated Iran Strategy Needed, Panelists Tell JINSA Board Members
On November 7, a panel of four experts addressed the Board of Directors on Iran. They included Michael Eisenstadt, director of the Military & Security Studies Program at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy; Mark Dubowitz, executive director of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies; Ali Alfoneh, Resident Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, and; cyber security expert Henry Bar-Levav.

Dedication Ceremony of Commodore Uriah P. Levy Statue Co-Sponsored by JINSA
A statue of Commodore Uriah P. Levy was dedicated in mid-December at Congregation Mikveh Israel in Philadelphia, Pa. Commodore Levy was the first Jewish admiral to serve in the U.S. Navy. Joshua Landes, a member of JINSA's Board of Directors, was the Master of Ceremonies for the event. Many of the speakers at the dedication focused on the important role that Commodore Levy played in setting the stage for all future Jewish Americans to serve with distinction in the armed forces of the United States.
