Board News Always and Forever!
Two of our board members have retired from board service. Jim Rhinehart, an original board member and liaison between Art Sanctuary and the Church of the Advocate, has served on Art Sanctuary's board for more than 8 years. Carolyn Langfitt, a retired librarian and former fundraising committee member has served on the board for more than 5 years. She is now an Advisory board member.
We are grateful for the talents and passion that both Jim and
Carolyn have brought on as board members.
Our Deepest Sympathy We extend
our deepest sympathy to the family of our Board Chair Rochelle
Nichols-Solomon, whose mother, the longtime South Philadelphia
activist, Mamie Nichols passed away this summer. Board member Rev. Isaac Miller presided over the memorial service.
Kudos! Advisory board member and owner of Duafe Holistic Hair Care Syreeta Scott has opened a new hair salon in East Falls (3502 Scotts Lane). Congratulations! |
Moving South
Art Sanctuary is continuing its citywide expansion. We will open a new South Philadelphia headquarters at the South West corner of 16th
and Bainbridge Streets May 2010. This new office facility will provide
us with a gallery space for small events and classrooms for our after
school arts programs. The Church of the Advocate in North Philly will
continue to be Art Sanctuary main venue for larger events such as the North Stars spring production and Celebration of Black Writing's Lifetime Achievement Award. |
