Art Sanctuary's 10th Anniversary Concert "A Shepherd Among Us" will air on WHHY's On Canvas.

Originally named Marvin Charles Peterson, trumpeter-composer Hannibal Lokumbe studied with John Coltrane and performed and recorded with big-name bandleaders such as Roy Haynes, Elvin Jones, and Pharoah Sanders in the early 1970s. Lokumbe performs A Shepherd Among Us, an original piece commissioned by Art Sanctuary in celebration of the organization's 10th anniversary.

A Shepherd Among Us is based on Father Paul's book Other Sheep I Have: The Autobiography of Father Paul M. Washington.

Several youths longing for an active, loving and consistent father in their lives embark upon a journey into a magical "Land of Dads" where their wishes are granted for a dad, but only for a day. Join Art Sanctuary's North Stars after school art students for this original multimedia production featuring poetry, spoken word, African Dance and Drum.
