Holiday Fun is Returning to the Buttonwood Park Zoo
 
For Immediate Release

New Bedford, MA- The Buttonwood Park Zoo proudly announces the return of our popular holiday programs: Breakfast with Santa, Merry TubaChristmas and Milk and Cookies with Santa.  In addition to these returning favorites, the Zoo will feature two new programs: Pizza Party with Santa and a Holiday Wreath Workshop.  The Zoological Society welcomes the holiday season on December 4 with the fourth annual Merry TubaChristmas.

Toe Jam Puppet Band

Sing, dance and play the hour away with the Toe Jam Puppet Band!  Please Note: Toe Jam Puppet Band will take a break during the month of December and return in January 2011.  Join us for Milk & Cookies on December 6, 13 and 20!

Toddler Tales

Enjoy a zooper fun story time at the Zoo! Toddler Tales is free with zoo admission and includes a snack and a craft/activity. Recommended for ages 3 - 5.

Buttonwood Park Zoo Animal Poetry Contest: Animals of the Wildlife Carousel
 
The Buttonwood Park Zoological Society invites students in grades 4, 5, and 6 to write a poem about one of the animals featured on our new Wildlife Carousel.  The poem can be about the carousel animal itself or the real animal it represents.  Poems can address any aspect of the animal, for example: how it looks, acts, sounds or why it is important to the environment, or why you like it so much, etc.  All poems must be received at the Zoo by Thursday, November 11 at 5:00PM.  For more information, please visit www.bpzoo.org.

Cub Scouts - Wildlife Conservation Pin and Belt Loop Program

Winter is for the Birds!

Would you like to make your yard more wildlife-friendly? Does it really matter what birdseed mix you use? Join us for this family workshop to learn about the food, water and habitat needs of our feathered friends. We'll wrap up the workshop by making a wood and Plexiglas bird feeder to take home. The program fee includes 1 bird feeder kit per family. Additional kits will be available for purchase the day of the workshop at $6 each. Holiday Wreath Workshop

Start the winter season with a homemade wreath! We'll start with a pre-made balsam wreath and use natural items (pine cones, berries) and holiday elements (ribbon, ornaments) to craft your family's one-of-a-kind seasonal decoration. The program fee includes 1 balsam wreath per family. Buttonwood Park Zoo is thrilled to host its fourth annual Merry TubaChristmas concert.  Get into the spirit like never before with a unique musical experience that's fun for all ages.  Listen to your favorite Christmas carols and sing along as local tuba and euphonium players of all ages perform these specially arranged tunes.  Be sure to bundle up for this outdoor performance.  Interested musicians, please call (508) 991 - 6178 x 31 for more information.

The Buttonwood Park Zoological Society (BPZS), a private, non-profit organization, was founded in 1969 to support the Buttonwood Park Zoo (BPZ) so that the Zoo will be a significant contributor to the conservation of nature both at home and throughout the world.  

Buttonwood Park Zoo (BPZ) features over 250 animals and 30 exhibits, including elephants, bison, mountain lions, bears, eagles, seals, otters, and farm animals.  BPZ is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and has been called "one of the finest small zoos in the United States" by that organization.
