Toddler Tales Every Thursday 10:30AM Cost: Free with zoo admission
Enjoy a zooper fun story time at the Zoo! Toddler Tales is free with zoo admission and includes a snack and a craft/activity. Recommended for ages 3 - 5.
Family Friendly Fridays Every Friday thru Labor Day all day Cost: Free with zoo admission Starting in July, the Zoo will have an activity sheet that your family can complete during their zoo visit. Stop in every Friday for a different activity. Gardening for Wildlife Saturday, August 14 1:00PM Free with zoo admission Did you know that parts of Buttonwood Park Zoo are Certified Wildlife Habitat? Join Education Curator Gail Janeczek to learn about how the zoo develops habitat for insects, birds and all living things. Take home tips and tricks for starting a wildlife haven in your own yard. If we get lucky, we may even find some baby butterflies! This program is suitable for adults and children ages 6 and older. Toe Jam Super Summer Send-off! Saturday, August 28 6:00PM-8:00PM (doors open at 5:00PM) Cost: $5 per child (ages 1-14); Children under 1 are free; Children over 14 and adults are free. Celebrate the end of summer with the Toe Jam Puppet Band! Bring blankets or lawn chairs and come sing, dance, and play the evening away on the Elephant Lawn. There will be prizes and giveaways, the carousel and train will be running ($2/ticket) and our caf� and gift store will be open. Call the Bears Den Caf� to pre-order a pizza dinner or purchase food and snacks during the event. Please note: This event will be held rain or shine.
Elephant Birthday Bash and Appreciation Day Saturday, September 19 1:00PM-4:00PM Cost: Free with zoo admission We'll celebrate all elephants with a day of demonstrations, activities and crafts. Join us for a day of elephant-sized fun! We will also celebrate our elephants' birthdays with Ruth and Emily's Birthday Bash. Family Fall Fun Campfires Friday, September 24 6:30PM Friday, October 1 6:30PM Cost: $25/family for members; $35/family for non-members Bring a blanket to spread on the ground and enjoy a beautiful Friday evening at the zoo. Relax around the campfire as we share an activity, a story and a snack. There will be a different topic for each campfire. Participants must pre-register and pay in advance by calling (508) 991-4556 x 18. In the event of poor weather, we will call by 5:00PM to cancel.
Scout Day Saturday, September 25 1:00PM-4:00PM Make s'mores, partake in activities and discover the experiences and programs the Zoo offers for Boy and Girl Scouts. All Boy and Girl Scouts under the age of 17 wearing Scout gear will be admitted for free. Not a Scout yet but interested? Representatives from area Girl and Boy Scout Councils will be available to register new Scouts, who will also get in FREE! Accompanying adults and siblings must pay regular admission. Girls' Night Out Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 6:30PM to Sunday, October 3, 2010 at 9:00AM Members: $80 per adult/child pair, $40 each additional child Non-members: $90 per adult/child pair, $45 each additional child Join zoo staff for a girls-only overnight at the Zoo! Enjoy a pizza dinner, animal-themed activities, a flashlight tour of the zoo, and s'mores before falling asleep to an animal-themed animated movie. Wake up early for a light breakfast and a morning zoo tour before heading home. Participants must pre-register and pre-pay by calling the Overnight Program Coordinator at (508) 991-4556 x 18 or by visiting www.bpzoo.org. The Buttonwood Park Zoological Society (BPZS), a private, non-profit organization, was founded in 1969 to support the Buttonwood Park Zoo (BPZ) so that the Zoo will be a significant contributor to the conservation of nature both at home and throughout the world.
Buttonwood Park Zoo (BPZ) features over 250 animals and 30 exhibits, including elephants, bison, mountain lions, bears, eagles, seals, otters, and farm animals. BPZ is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and has been called "one of the finest small zoos in the United States" by that organization.
