Toe Jam Puppet Band Creative Arts Playgroup

Every Monday                                     10:30AM  and 12:30PM

Cost: Zoo admission plus $5/family

 

Sing, dance and play the hour away with New Bedford's favorite, The Toe Jam Puppet Band!

 

 

Toddler Tales

Every Thursday                                     10:30AM

Cost: Free with zoo admission

 

Enjoy a zooper fun story time at the zoo! Toddler Tales is free with zoo admission and includes a snack and a craft/activity. Recommended for ages 3 - 5.

 

 

Indoor Monkey Business

Every Friday                                         1:00PM-4:00PM

Cost: Zoo admission + $5/family

 

Join us for our open play Fridays.  This is a great way to wrap up the school week with a quick visit with the animals and an afternoon of games, toys and puzzles. We'll provide the toys, you provide the monkeys! 

 

 

Junior Duck Stamp Art Exhibit

Available until February 26, 2010

Cost: Free with zoo admission

 

Stop by the education center and see some of the state winners of the 2009 Junior Duck Stamp program. 

 

Groundhog Day

Tuesday, February 2

Cost: Free with zoo admission

 

Stop at the admissions desk for an activity sheet for parents and preschoolers.  See if you can find all the animal shadows around the zoo in honor of our friend, the groundhog.

 

 

Winter Wildlife Tracking at Copicut Woods

Saturday, February 13                            9:00AM- 11:00AM

Many birds and mammals remain active in the snow and cold. Join Bill Sampson, senior keeper at the Buttonwood Park Zoo, as we search for signs of rabbit, deer, fox, coyote, turkey and fisher at Copicut Woods in the Bioreserve.

 

 

Valentine's Day Cookie Decorating

February 7-14                                           11:00AM-3:00PM, daily

Cost: Zoo admission + $2/cookie

 

Stop by the Bear's Den Café to decorate a sweet for your sweetie!  Join us anytime between 11:00AM and 3:00PM to create an edible work of art.

 

 

Craft an Animal Valentine's Day Card

Saturday, February 13                               1:00-4:00PM

Cost: Free with zoo admission

 

Using stamps and stickers, we'll create Valentine's Day cards inspired by the animal kingdom.

 

 

Cabin Fever Week

February 15-19, Monday thru Friday

Cost: Free with zoo admission

 

Celebrate winter vacation week at the zoo. We'll have entertainment at 10:30AM and 12:30PM on Monday, and at 11:00AM Tuesday thru Friday, and a different craft each day from noon to 2:00PM.  For more information about the Cabin Fever Week entertainment, please visit www.bpzoo.org.

The Buttonwood Park Zoological Society (BPZS), a private, non-profit organization, was founded in 1969 to support the Buttonwood Park Zoo (BPZ) so that the Zoo will be a significant contributor to the conservation of nature both at home and throughout the world.  
 
Buttonwood Park Zoo (BPZ) features over 250 animals and 30 exhibits, including elephants, bison, mountain lions, bears, eagles, seals, otters, and farm animals.  BPZ is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and has been called "one of the finest small zoos in the United States" by that organization.

It is open daily, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
