EWI has a NEW Home!
Thanks to all of you who continued to support our efforts and helped us going and growing, while we searched for the right office space to run our programs.
Last week we moved into a new and exciting location at Convergence , 1801 N. Quaker Lane, Alexandria, VA 22302. We are currently working on our website to reflect this change. To contact us email Marga or call her at: 301-693-1346. The search for the right venue for Empowered Women International, and Marga's new art business school, Entrepreneurship Academy for Artists was quite an endeavor. The two organizations moved together and share space, a common vision and goals. Lisa Hawkins, Convergence's Director was very generous and opened the doors to host EWI and the Academy. Thank you Lisa and the Convergence community! The Convergence is a creative community that engages artists and creative people to incorporate their artistic calling with their spiritual life. We are planning a painting project, and an EWI Friends Party. Stay tunned for another email on this! |

Alexandria Times Tells Our Story - Business Without Boarders Changes Lives
In June 2008, EWI graduated a new group of eight immigrant women artists and featured their art together with art from seven alumni members. The graduation ceremony and artists reception was hosted by the Lee Center, and sponsored by Alexandria Commission for the Arts, The Giving Circle of Hope and Whole Foods Fair Lakes.
Thanks to Alexandria Times and its owner and journalist, John Arundel for his dedicated support and contribution to our mission and training program. Training for Success, EWI's entrepreneurial program for artists is a business training created by Romanian native and award-winning journalist Marga Fripp. The program gives immigrants who want to pursue a career in the arts an opportunity to find a voice in their community and earn an income.
"This program has changed my life completely now the sky's the limit," exclaimed Carmen Dupuy, a Venezuelan artist. Thanks Danielle Battaglia for writing the article. Read the Alexandria Times article. |
