SWON Updates

In two years, SWON has grown from a concept to a fully functioning Group Purchasing Organization serving more than 260 practicing physicians in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico, Washington and Kansas. In 2010 our member practices have averaged more than $25.4 million in purchases per month, which in turn has provided nearly $120,000 back to members in Preferred Credit Rebates. Oncology Supply was selected as the exclusive distributor for the GPO.

We continually search for additional services of benefit to our members and have recently entered into partnership with Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy (DSP), a national specialty pharmacy known for their exceptional service and expertise in oral oncolytics. This partnership creates a dedicated oral pharmacy support team, SWONRx, that provides benefits verification, patient financial assistance, clinical education, adherence support & an online oral pharmacy management portal for real-time status of referred prescriptions. For more information click here.

Additionally, we have secured a free membership for all SWON members to www.oncologymanagersbriefcase.com . This subscription based site was designed by oncology managers for oncology managers.  There are hundreds of sample forms available, an online directory of oncology resources, a library of industry related books available and much more. If you have not logged into OncologyManagersBriefcase.com contact Melissa Welch for your username and password.

We understand that the political and financial climate has made 2010 a challenging year for many of our members and we will continue to work to provide value in all that we do.

SWON Membership Database Verification

Currently, SWON is doing an annual update of our membership database.  We may be contacting you by phone, email or in person to verify the information we have on file for your practice. We need the information kept up to date to ensure our files are current for processing & mailing checks for our quarterly Preferred Credit Rebate program, phone & email correspondence, contract & report reconciliations, and various SWON demographics.

Please watch your email and respond with any needed additions, deletions or other changes.

Congress keeps Medicare doctors waiting

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- As lawmakers tussle over freezing a 21% cut to doctors' Medicare fees, physicians are stuck waiting for word as to how much they'll be paid -- and when.

Officially, a massive cut to the rates that the government pays doctors to treat Medicare patients took effect June 1.

But the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said it would delay processing claims for 10 business days, in the hope that Congress will delay the cuts, making the move retroactive, as it has done for years.
