Greetings!
The Holidays are sneaking up on us here at the winery!
We're still making wine!
Aromas of fermenting grapes are in the air, and in every building, from the cellar, to the fermentation building, to the barrel storage building! We crushed our last grapes of the season on November 14th which happened to be Port grapes. It's very exciting to be making port this year because we have not made Port since 2005. It will be well into December before we get all of the wines into the barrels for a long winters nap.
The great news is that we continue to bottle many new wines from the 2008 Vintage. And that means our Holiday Wine list will have a few new additions by December.
With plenty to see and taste at the winery, we invite you to visit and bring your holiday guests in for a taste and tour throughout the Holiday Season. We're setting up a tasting bar in the cellar to accommodate extra holiday visitors.
Thanksgiving! There's still time to pick up a special wine for Turkey day!
Here are just a few recommendations.
- 2008 Dry Muscat ... Greet your guests with this light, aromatic, bright fruity wine. Think Biscotti, Smoked Salmon, Persimmons, Nuts, Mandarins, Asiago & Creamy Brie.
- 2008 Colorado Sangiovese... think moist Turkey and Gravy, with Cranberries cooked in Balistreri Cabernet Sauvignon.
- 2008 Colorado Merlot (Johnson Vineyard) The bit of sweetness & oak in this big red will compliment all of the fixings...think Savory stuffing with sage and pine nuts, winter squash with sweet figs and pecans, Mashed potatoes with rich turkey gravy and sweet orange and yellow yams.
- Colorado Cherry Wine... Perfect with Apple Pie and Pumpkin Pie.
