Because of you, NBAF continues to provide world-class programming in film, visual arts, the summer festival and performing arts, in addition to our education and public programming and special events.

NBAF Receives Grant for Revival of "Voodoo Macbeth" 
NBAF has received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) American Masterpieces Grant to support the revival of Voodoo Macbeth, accompanied by documentation from the original 1936 production. An adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth to 19th-century Haiti, the play will be presented in Atlanta in late 2011 prior to traveling to various locations around the US.

About Us
NBAF (National Black Arts Festival) is one of the premier national and international presenters of the art, music and culture of people of African descent. The mission of NBAF is to engage, cultivate and educate diverse audiences about the arts and culture of the African Diaspora and provide opportunities for artistic and creative expression. NBAF produces year-round education and public programming, as well as events presented in collaboration with our partners, in addition to the annual summer festival. Recognized as an innovator in the arts, NBAF was awarded a $1 million, 5-year restricted grant to participate in Leading for the Future (LFF), a program of the Nonprofit Finance Fund (NFF), funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. NBAF was one of six new field leaders named as National Dance Project (NDP) Hub Sites for 2011 by the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA). Learn more about NBAF at www.nbaf.org.
Major funding for this organization is provided by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners through the Fulton County Arts Council, Georgia Council for the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of Education, Georgia Humanities Council, and the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau. NBAF was recently granted a $1 million, 5-year restricted grant to participate in Leading for the Future (LFF), a program of the Nonprofit Finance Fund (NFF), funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. The grant focuses specifically on the use of technology and new media as a tool for communication and development of new audiences as well as the dissemination of creative ideas and expression. |
