Because Of Their Declaration Of Independence, We Can Declare Great Places To Celebrate On The Fourth
Do you think our founding fathers would run the Peachtree Road Race to mark the signing of the Declaration of Independence? It might be a bit hot in the jackets, hosiery and wigs of their day. We're pretty sure that they would be up for a friendly meal and a libation or two in air-conditioned comfort to mark the historic event. Put them here and now, and we can show them who's open and serving in their honor with a click on our blog.

Shop, shop, chop, chop, and take home some fresh produce and prep ideas. |

The Grass Is Greener For Pastured Poultry After First Pastured Poultry Week
This one's a keeper, according to Georgians for Pastured Poultry (GPP). More than 30 restaurants served pastured poultry for the entire week during the state's first Pastured Poultry Week. Bantam & Biddy, Farm 255, Miller Union and Whole Foods Market (South Region) had already committed to offering pastured poultry year round, and several other restaurants stepped in to join and work toward making more such options available. Hundreds of people became more aware of the virtues of pastured poultry after seeing chef demos at farmers markets, Whole Foods Markets and the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Considering the benefits for the environment, animal welfare, human health, supporting local farmers, plus the superior taste factor, the flock to eating pastured poultry is well worth joining. Yes, the GPP is already hatching ideas for Pastured Poultry Week 2013. Why wait when White Oak Pastures and other farms are offering these birds now? White Oak Pastures reported that pastured poultry sales doubled during Pastured Poultry Week. That's not chicken scratch; that's good eats.
