THANKS, SCOUTMOB, FOR FINDING AND SHARING
ALL THOSE GREAT DEALS!
Scoutmob is better than coffee at waking us
up every morning. Put on the coffee,
look over to email and there it is, beaming with another eye-opening daily deal
we can choose to have sent to our phones (going green) or to our emails (need
that paper reminder). After snagging a
deal, we turn to the daily specials: events by the weekday and weekend, local digs and finds and cultural
heads-ups. We here at Atlanta Dish have been on
Scoutmob ourselves...if you scrolled down last week, you would have seen us. Thanks, Scoutmob, for including us and for
sending new foodie followers our way!

KEVIN GILLESPIE WILL GO TO THE ENDS OF THE
EARTH, EVEN TO CINCINNATI, TO COOK WITH PORK
When Kevin Gillespie,
executive chef and co-owner of Woodfire
Grill, sizzled his way through Bravo's "Top Chef," he earned some ribbing
for including pork in almost every one of his signature dishes. His penchant for the pig is back big time --
Gillespie will be bringing the bacon and giving cooking demos in Cincinnati as
host of the Purina
Beggin' Bacon Bash on International Bacon Day, Saturday, September 4. Dogs will have their day with a bacon maze,
incredible dog team performances, a doggie costume contest and tryouts to win
"loudest bark" designation in the Guinness
Book of World Records. Meanwhile,
mouths will water among their owners as they watch Gillespie cook at noon...right
before the bacon-eating contest. Is that
an oink or a woof?

YELPER FILLS HIS BELLY WITH PORK BELLY ON A
BUN AT SUPER PAN LATINO SANDWICH SHOP IN PONCEY HIGHLAND
Yelper Bj C. and his wife have found their superheroes on a bun and bolillo at Super Pan
Latino Sandwich Shop. He's talking heroes,
not gyros -- pork belly steam buns and BBQ rib bolillos. Bj C. has included a couple of discreet
photos -- one look at the superhero sign and you know this place has to have
amazing sandwich skills.
Stopped in today to check out the new hot lunch spot
& grab the wife and I a sandwich. I had the pork belly steam bun,
which was very enjoyable. The warm soft bun with crisp sweet and spicy
porkbelly was like an explosion of flavor in my mouth. The wife got the bbq bee rib bolillo which
she seemed to enjoy also scarFfing it down before I even got a chance to take
my bite. It came with a side of the bbq sauce. And we finished the
meal off with a chipotle chocolate chip cookie.
I'll have to say I'm excited to get back and try all the
other superwicheS!
