WHOA, DUDE!  SWEETWATER BREWS WITH EVERY COURSE AT SOUTH CITY KITCHEN VININGS DINNER.  SWEET!

Sweetwater Beer DinnerVeer off the mainstream beer channel and sail over to South City Kitchen Vinings for an evening of not-so-traditional Southern fare and brews from Atlanta's own SweetWater Brewing Company on Thursday, August 19. There's a unique beer for each of the four courses, from hors d'oeuvre to dessert at the 6:30-10 p.m. prix fixe dinner.  SweetWater Sch'wheat, an unfiltered American wheat ale, pairs well with passed hors d'oeuvre of house-made corndogs with orange-coriander "honey mustard" and chilled white shrimp with seasonal heirloom tomato-horseradish jam.  An appetizer of "hot wings-style" ale-brined, grilled Carolina quail with buttermilk blue cheese, celery puree, herb salad and Texas Pete butter sauce comes out with bold SweetWater IPA, and silver medal-winning SweetWater Motorboat complements the entrée of BBQ-braised beef brisket with smashed lady peas and fried coleslaw.  Chocolate lovers drink up:  dessert features a bacon-wrapped "banana split" with chocolate stout ice cream, honey, chocolate and roasted peanuts along with smooth and nutty SweetWater Georgia Brown.  $50 per person (including tax and gratuity).  For reservations, call 770-435-0700.

South City Kitchen Vinings:  1675 Cumberland Parkway, SE; 770-435-0700.

Star Chef Food & Wine ShowHey Ford, bring back some of that cool Vermont air from the Star Chef Food & Wine ShowJCT. Kitchen & Bar Executive Chef Ford Fry has the "Killer Tomato" attack under control on the home front and is setting off for this round up of top American chefs, national and international winemakers and cheesemakers at the Topnotch Resort and Spa in Stowe, Vt. on Saturday, August 21.  Ford's Southern-regional creations are knock-outs here in Atlanta, and we know he'll definitely be a stand out up North.  Amid a bevy of New England chefs, Fry will be one of only four chefs from below the Mason-Dixon Line sharing signature dishes with the lucky guests.  The event starts at noon and runs through 5 p.m.  Go ahead, fly on up.  You know you want to.  Event net proceeds benefit Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger.

PACCI CHEF KEIRA MORITZ IS ONE OF THE HOT CHEFS HEATING UP THE KITCHEN AT THE ATLANTA FOOD RAVE EXPERIENCE TO BENEFIT THE ATLANTA FOOD BANK

http://www.pacciatlanta.comDid you know Pacci Ristorante Executive Chef Keira Moritz, a Valdosta, Ga. native, can drive a backhoe and a tractor...but not a stick shift?  Minor trivia.  More importantly, this Georgia gal wields a mean knife, spoon and spatula -- and will be putting her strengths to good work as one of the hot chefs participating in The Atlanta Food Rave Experience on Friday, August 27 at the Mason Murer Fine Art Gallery.  Don't ask us what's for dinner because the menu is being kept secret until guests arrive (vegetarians, there are options for you).  We can tell you that your $55-per-person ticket purchases a feast prepared by some of the ATL's hottest chefs at the Rave Review Culinary Extravaganza and Challenge, an open bar with a collection of signature alcoholic and non-alcoholic specialty beverages, plus complimentary valet parking.  Must be over age 21 to attend.  Tickets are available for purchase online only and will not be sold at the door.  The event benefits the Atlanta Community Food Bank and its mission to fight hunger by educating, empowering and engaging Metro Atlanta and North Georgia communities.

Mondavi familyTalk about a primat-sized event!  Morton's The Steakhouse restaurants all across America will team up with Napa Valley's famed Mondavi family to orchestrate a nationwide "Morton's and the Mondavi Families: Celebrating the Legendary Blend" wine dinner and auction on Thursday, October 7.  National charity Make-a-Wish Foundation® will benefit, while guests enjoy Morton's fine food and wine, wine purchasing opportunities and bragging rights about being a part of this premier event.  A first in Mondavi family history, this evening brings the second and third generations of the Mondavi family together at the Charles Krug Winery Carriage House in Napa Valley to celebrate more than 90 years in growing and crafting wines.

This first-of-its-kind dinner and auction is a culmination of the "Prime Events at Morton's" series.  Another event first is the online auctioning of the first-ever red wine produced by the extended Mondavi family, The Legendary Primat, a 27-liter bottle blending Napa Valley-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.  The evening's hosts include Michael Mondavi of Folio Fine Wine Partners, Tim Mondavi and Marcia Mondavi Borger of Continuum Estate, and Peter Mondavi, Sr., Peter Mondavi, Jr. and Marc Mondavi of Charles Krug Winery.

The dinner and charity auction will be broadcast simultaneously in high definition to 53 Morton's The Steakhouse private dining rooms -- including Morton's The Steakhouse Buckhead -- enabling almost 2,400 guests to participate in the auction from their own Morton's dinner table.  The Morton's The Steakhouse - Buckhead event, hosted by Charles Krug Winery's Southeast Region Manager Mark McClure, begins at 8 p.m.  A silent auction bid will be held for a three-pack of premium wines from Charles Krug Winery, Continuum Estate and Folio Fine Wine Partners.

TWO TIMES AND GOING BACK FOR MORE -- YELPER FALLS FOR ISABELLA'S CAFÉ IN DECATUR

YelperAndy S. keeps his yelping short and sweet . . . more time to sit down and enjoy quaint, new Isabella's Café on the square in Decatur that way!  Can't talk or yelp with your mouth full, you know.

Wow and again!  Have been twice and found the service and food to be exceptional. The spinach gorganzola salad with maple vinaigrette started us off.  Huge salad -- excellent for halfing. The Asian beef was tender and the shrimp and andouille pasta (lighter cream sauce than our version) were excellent main courses.  We wrapped up splitting a hummingbird cake that I should have stopped after the first bite, but couldn't save myself from it.  (We had already had the Banana Pudding the first time).  Until this place gets settled in, I'm sure there will be some bad moments, but I so far I am sold as a great cafe for big flavors just up the street.
