Good Morning!       

 

Well, so far, 2012 has been a whirlwind! I'm not 100% certain where the last 4 weeks have gone, but I have a bit of an idea! ;)

As I write this, I'm working simultaneously on 2 new products for you, plus we've accepted several new client projects - all launching within the next couple of weeks!

One of the most exciting projects of the year (yes, I'm actually saying that before January has waved "Adieu!"), is the comprehensive Brand Development ProcessSM I'm embarking on with the inimitable @TheMarketSage, which is going to completely transform my business in 2012.

Q. Linda, I've been on your website and I see you're EVERYWHERE online. I've got a Facebook page and a LinkedIn account for my business that I post to a couple of times a week and I'm thinking about a blog, but am hesitant to get into Twitter, Google+ and all the rest. It seems like being active in so many places would just start taking over my entire day! How do I know which ones would be really worthwhile for my business?

A. Thanks for a GREAT question - and I've kept you anonymous, as you requested but, really, there's no need for embarrassment! It's a dilemma many small business owners face - and you're right - the prospect of setting up all these accounts and then keeping up with them once you do can be daunting!

 

My best advice to you is simple: TAKE IT SLOWLY. You don't have to sign up for everything that comes down the pike. As I've said time and time again: The most important things to have are an OBJECTIVE and an ONLINE MARKETING STRATEGY for attaining that objective. Once you do, you'll have a better shot at determining which online platforms will help you reach your goals. Despite the numerous platforms I choose to participate in, I'm also cautious about jumping in until I have had a chance to observe the platform in action. Not every one of them is as advertised, and some of them simply don't survive. I don't have time to waste on false starts, do you? ;)

 

Whatever else you decide to do, I recommend that you make a blog the hub of your online marketing. In fact, I've written about this approach before, which you can read about here.
