Washington Street Mills Art Exhibit Picker Building 3rd Floor
Nettie Fiorini and Doug Vaghan
We're kicking off 2012 with a new art exhibit featuring the work of Nettie Fiorini and Doug Vaughan at the Gallery at Washington Street Mills from Friday, January 20th through Saturday, February 4th, 2012.
Nettie's work takes on many forms, including paintings on canvases, walls and furniture. She also works in clay, metal and photography. Nettie's work utilizes the real and the abstract, invoking symbol and archetype, transporting the viewer from the here and now, to there and then, and back again.
Doug's passions come to life on canvas with every stroke of his brushes. He has won numerous juried awards with his landscapes, seasonal, abstract, marine and floral paintings. Doug relates that many viewing his paintings are saddened when they learn that some of the places portrayed exist only in the imagination of the painter.
The public is invited to meet the artists at the reception on Friday, January 20th, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. The show runs through February 4th.
The Gallery is located at the Washington Street Mills, One Washington Street, 3rd floor west, in the Picker Building.

Theatre.Unmasked Presents: Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet
In February 2012 Theatre.unmasked and the Washington Street Mills will present Romeo & Juliet as part of the very first Shakespeare in the Mill - a festive family event for everyone! Shaping up to become an annual event in Downtown Dover, Shakespeare in the Mill has something for everyone, with love, loss and laughter. This production will get you out of the house and into a great event during the cold winter months!
Romeo & Juliet is the classic Shakespeare story of two young lovers (played by Jake Tremblay and Emily Karel) caught between their loyalty to their families and their great love for each other. Newcomers Karel and Tremblay join local actors Jewel Davis, Shannon Marshall and more in bringing Romeo & Juliet to the theatre.unmasked stage. Theatre.unmasked has also enlisted the skills and talents of some of the Seacoast's up and coming theatrical enthusiasts from local high schools, who will be both performing and assisting backstage with the show! Presented in the company's new theater space in the Mill, theatre.unmasked and the Washington Street Mills Business and Cultural Center have created an event that aims to cater to the theatrical spirit of locals from all around the Seacoast area.
Tickets are now on sale via the website or by calling 207.358.9887. Don't miss this opportunity to shake off the winter blues and get out of the house for an indoor park-style performance at Shakespeare in the Mill - Romeo & Juliet!

Save The Bridge Group Continues Moving ForwardThe committee members of Save The Bridge continue their efforts to save the covered pedestrian bridge that used to be at the end of Washington Street. It was removed in order to construct a vehicular bridge that many of you drive over to park on River Street. The committee of citizens has been formed to install the bridge in a new location behind the Children's Museum of New Hampshire across the Cocheco River on to the Washington Street Mills property. A variety of construction firms, small businesses and local trades people have volunteered services and expertise to make the project a reality. It is their hope that the bridge will be in its new location by December 2012. If you would like more information please feel free to stop in at the next meeting on January 24th at 6pm. Meetings are held on the 3rd floor of the Picker Building in the conference room. For more immediate information and pictures, please visit their page on Facebook.
