Remembering at the Hostos Community College Memorial

Just two months after the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Americans are also remembering another horrible tragedy that happened in November of 2001, the crash of American Airlines Flight 587, also in New York City. Family members came by to reflect at the Memorial Garden which Hostos Community College dedicated in 2006 to the 265 people who lost their lives in the crash of American Airlines Flight 587.
The memorial, located between college buildings at 450 and 500 Grand Concourse is a garden with beautiful landscaping, a serene waterfall and paving stones that lead to the memorial wall listing the names of those who perished that day. In the 10 years that have passed, memories of the ones lost on that tragic day are still fresh in the minds of those who had loved ones on the ill-fated flight. "Ten years have gone by, but as you know all too well, every day in the wake of tragedy is a day of remembrance," said New York City's Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Hostos Community College has since set up Memorial Scholarships which provide financial aid to children, spouses and financial dependents of individuals lost in Flight 587's crash. This program will assist the 265 families who lost loved ones cover the cost of attending college in New York State.

Is Your Small Business Achieving its Marketing Objectives?

A well thought marketing plan is key for any company, but it can be of large importance to a small business. The fact that small businesses are, by description, owned and operated by ambitious individuals rather than corporate chains, they must put extra effort to stand out to consumers in a
sea of conglomerates and big box stores. While marketing and advertising can take many forms, from TV and radio ads to online tactics like the use of social networking sites ex. Facebook and Twitter, one of the best ways for a small business to achieve its marketing objectives is through an investment in print advertising.
Preferred business Inc. offers professional results at affordable prices, and the increase in visibility could be just the boost your company needs. Here are some of the ways in which Preferred business can help your small business achieve its marketing objectives with printed materials:

Helps increase your brand recognition. One of the biggest hurdles for any business to overcome is invisibility. to put it plainly, no one will use your services or purchase your products if they don't even know that your business exists! That's why establishing brand recognition among consumers is such a priority for businesses both large and small. One ofthe easiest ways to do this is to launch a print marketing campaign. Try sending out postcards or distributing printed door hangers to everyone in your neighborhood. The message doesn't have to be detailed; remember, your goal is to make sure that as many people as possible have seen the name of your business and understand what it is that you do. Increasing your recognition within the community will go a long way toward growing your sales and expanding your customer base.

Watching your overhead and keeping costs low. Of course, there are many ways to
establish brand recognition, but few are as cost-effective as a commercial print campaign
and keeping your costs as low as possible is important for small businesses. Plus, when you
choose Preferred business Inc., you can afford to launch several different print campaigns for the same price as it costs to buy just one billboard or a couple of local TV ads, and as any marketing guru will tell you, repetition is the key to successfully establishing your brand. The more people see your
brand name, the more likely they are to remember it, and that kind of persistence can be
challenging when your advertising is prohibitively expensive.

Making it Legit. Finally, if you're like many small business owners, you may be struggling simply to make a name for your company as a legitimate option that can be considered an equal of the big name chains you're probably competing against. Like it or not, many consumers tend to be wary of small, independent businesses, associating visibility with trustworthiness. Creating high quality print marketing materials will go a long way toward legitimizing your business and calling attention to your company as a professional operation. If you want to inspire trust in your potential customers, a print campaign is the way to go.
