Based on current interest rates, the district could save $120,000 by refunding these bonds. This savings would be passed directly onto taxpayers. The Board will be presented with an official resolution at their next regular meeting. District purchases new financial software package The District currently uses a financial software program called J|School, which has outlived its expected lifespan and has a limited amount of features. Recognizing these limitations, in 2010, the district launched a search for a new package to replace J|School. After reviewing 11 different programs and vendors, the district has selected a product called Skyward for its financial system. It is currently used by 228 school districts in Illinois and has received positive recommendations. It offers expanded features, 24 hour/7-days a week support, and hosting services which reduces reliance on district server space. The proposed cost for a five-year agreement is $275,000. |
