One Power Plant Proposal Down
One more to fight on Thursday
| Our region made the right decision to shut down this South Bay Power Plant. Why are we considering another power plant in precious open space? |
UPDATE
Your Voices Were Heard! The council pulled from today's agenda the massive 850 MW gas-fired power plant proposal on protected "pueblo" land at the corner of 805/Nobel Drive. This area is precious open space with vernal pools and protected habitat that is part of the Rose Canyon watershed.
We know this issue will surface again later this year--stay tuned for more details. WE STILL NEED HELP The other gas-fired power plant proposal for a location in the protected open space near Mission Trails park will still be heard tomorrow. Join the fight at the Planning Commission at 9 a.m. at City Hall, 202 C Street, San Diego, 92101.
Please attend and say NO to turning invaluable and rare open space into heavy industrial uses.
We fight fossil-fuel powered power plants because they are major carbon dioxide emitters -- the main contributor to climate change -- and we have better alternatives. We can meet our future energy needs through conservation, efficiency, storage and clean renewables.
