Do you know San Diego Bay's "Dirty Little Secret?"
Join us on Aug. 9 to uncover what lies beneath the surface

 san diego bay

Join San Diego Coastkeeper and Environmental Health Coalition to
expose the bay's toxic secrets at our free community forum Signs of the Tide.

Bring your friends and family for our bilingual event on Aug. 9 from 6 - 8 p.m. to learn about the bay's problems and make a commitment to help fight for its proper cleanup.

Signs of the Tide will be held at the Memorial Recreation Center at 2902 Marcy Avenue.

Presenters include:

  • Alberto "Beto" Vasquez will moderate Signs of the Tide.  This Coastkeeper water quality monitoring volunteer is a very active advocate in his community for environmental stewardship. Beto grew up in the communities most impacted by the toxic sediment.

  • Joy Williams, Research & Community Assistance Director at Environmental Health Coalition, will cover the scope of the toxic cleanup project, including what's involved in removing all material across a sixty-acre site.

  • Jose Medina, a local environmental justice advocate, will address the issues that South Bay and Central San Diego communities face on a daily basis, and share his own experiences fighting for a cleaner environment.

  • Gabriel Solmer, Legal Director at San Diego Coastkeeper, will tell you all the ways you can get involved to make sure your voice gets heard in the push for safer water.

Invite your neighbors, coworkers, friends and families to learn about the toxics in San Diego Bay, how they got there and how they should be cleaned up. We will provide you with drinks and snacks. Babysitting will be available onsite and the presentation will be conducted in both English and Spanish.
