The Lunch with the Mayor was a fabulous event,
with 475 people in attendance.
Mayor Castro highlighted the importance of preventing teen pregnancy for a brighter future for San Antonio. Elsa Ramon, Co-Anchor at WOAI-TV, shared a powerful testimonial about breaking the cycle of teen pregnancy.
Our program featured Shining Stars, young people who shared their goals and dreams with us. The ME NOW...baby later Teen Ambassadors were also in attendance.
Laura Richmond, our Estrella Award Honoree, was crowned as the "queen of our hearts" by the Shining Stars. Dr. Amy Middleman, our keynote speaker, shared insights about the importance of talking to young people about sex.
The Rick Cavender Band performed several songs, including "Angels Among Us".
Healthy Futures of Texas is working hard to prevent teen and unplanned pregnancy in San Antonio. We provide effective sex education for teens and young adults. Our "Parents Have the Power" workshops are designed to empower parents to talk with their children about sex.
The Healthy Futures Alliance is a coalition of over 400 community members working together on prevention.
