I wanted to talk a little about the nasal airway and nasal function in this newsletter.
90% of my cosmetic rhinoplasty patients have functional or breathing issues in addition to their cosmetic concerns. Rhinoplasty in these patients not only improves the appearance of the nose, but also enhances and opens the nasal airway.
A severely deviated septum can cause significant nasal airway obstruction. Especially when the deviation occurs in the front of the nose causing nostril asymmetry as seen in the photos below. Correcting this issue can be technically very challenging. However, it is essential to ultimately achieving a straighter and functionally improved nose.
