Greetings!
May is going to be an exciting month for Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven and we are happy to share it with you! Our Multicultural Women's Month was a great success and we would like to thank all of the amazing and diverse women of New Haven who made it possible. This month we are carrying on a theme of female empowerment with our special workshops designed specifically for women. At NHS, we are encouraging women to become first time homebuyers, resident leaders, smart investors, and capable homeowners. In another attempt to make our classes accessible to everyone, these classes for women will be running consecutively in both English and Spanish.
Spring is finally here along with renewed opportunity to buy a house and to make a difference in your neighborhood. Now is the time to tour that house you've had your eye on at our special open house event where we will be showing three of our beautifully renovated houses. The weather is perfect for volunteering outside in your community, garden, and neighborhood. NeighborWorks week is fast approaching, and we are making preparations to have another great week full of volunteer opportunities. Stay tuned for more exciting events, success stories, and updates from across NHS' departments!

The Historic Repeating Arms District
Newhallville
"The Winchester Repeating Arms Company Historic District is historically significant as New Haven's most intact example of major industrial development and expansion that led to the concurrent development of large working-class residential neighborhoods in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.....As a group, these buildings represent a variety of important and popular vernacular architectural styles of the era."

NHS is proud to contribute to the preservation of this wonderful neighborhood. See the houses we have completed in the area and others we will be working on in the years to come.
