New Start up Business Program

 

Four organizations have come together to create a new small business start up program called BizStart Barron County.

 

The Rice Lake Chamber of Commerce, Rice Lake City Council Economic Development Committee, Barron County Economic Development Corp and UW-EC Small Business Development Center have jointly created a comprehensive new program to assist individuals who want to know more about how to start to start a business in Rice Lake and throughout Barron County.

 

BizStart provides all the resources a potential entrepreneur needs to start a business by making one phone call to the Chamber offices.

 

How the program works and how we assist:
 

  •          You have an idea
  •          Will it make money?
  •          Laying the groundwork

o   Business Plan creation

o   How to incorporate

o   Business funding - finance preparation

o   State and Federal registrations

o   IRS forms

o   Expert assistance = Legal, Marketing, CPA, Banking

o   Office/Business Space location assistance

o   Website creation

o   Logo creation

o   Business cards/printing

 

Monthly meetings will be set up at the Chamber office in Rice Lake with a prospective entrepreneurs for one on one counseling with Jim Mishefske, SBDC Director from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Counseling is funded by the Small Business Administration and is free of charge. In addition to start up assistance, expansion assistance and exit strategy advice for business owners and entrepreneurs will be provided.

Bob Johnson, Jerry Atherton, Joe Erickson, Bob Halverson, Mike Joosten  (Municipal Band Director), and Mark Rutherfored (Sound).  The musicians and guest bands who volunteer their time to provide entertainment.  The businesses, civic groups and individuals who donated funds to ensure the continuation of this community event.  Our year was fantastic  due to all of the people involved helping.
