Greetings!

Have you resolved, yet again this year, to finally get your organization's fund development plan off the ground?  REALLY off the ground?  You've been thinking about it, you know it is the right thing to do - essential to the success of your nonprofit organization's future.  You know it will move you closer to your goals and vision, but somehow another year has flown by and you are not much farther along than January of 2010.

I know,
  • You have an overflowing platter.
  • There are so many opportunities, but not enough resources.
  • It is harder to raise the same number of dollars than it was a few years ago.

If only, if only...

Excuses?  Maybe.  Reality?  Yes.
TUIT Coaster
Some of you will remember Zig Ziglar, a premier motivational speaker in the 1980s and beyond.  For years, he heard people say, 'One of these days, I'll get around to it.'  His creative solution was to distribute round pieces of paper with "TUIT" printed on them.  No more excuses:  a 'Round Tuit' gave them permission to act NOW!

Well, I have good news!  YOUR one of these days' has finally arrived and I am offering you YOUR own 'Round Tuit.' Let's talk about how KMAC's professional philanthropic counsel can help to:
  • Establish an actionable and balanced fund development roadmap of relationship-building activities.
  • Take your development efforts to the next level.
  • Keep you on your resolution 'track' with our monthly coaching program.
There is no such thing as the 'perfect time' - contact us at KMAC & Associates or 210-497-8998 to start the process today!

Sincerely,

There is a lot to be said for controlling your own destiny, being your own boss, charting your own path.

Then, there's reality. And, the reality is, when you're the Executive Director of a nonprofit organization - and you're its only staff member - being your own boss can suddenly become very isolating.

For Amelia "Amy" Nieto, CFRE, Executive Director of the

Historical Centre Foundation (HCF), 2010 was a turning point, and a time to call in reinforcements. "We were in a transition time," Amy recalls. "Fr. David Garcia had been reassigned, and the new rector, Very Rev. Tony Vilano, wasn't very well known in our community."

HCF started as a fundraising arm for the capital campaign to renovate San Fernando Cathedral, but has transitioned into an organization that raises funds for the Cathedral's maintenance, as well as management of its ministries throughout the community. Without a dedicated Development Officer on staff, Amy found she needed someone with a fresh perspective.

I felt it was important to talk to another development professional," Amy said. "I needed someone to ask, 'Am I on the right path? Am I moving in the right direction? Am I crazy? What do you think about this?" Amy called on the coaching expertise of Kathy MacNaughton to be that sounding board.

In addition to listening to Amy and providing her with feedback...read more

Client Profile: Susan Montagna, Inspire Community Fine Art Center

"Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."

~ Pablo Picasso

Every day, we are touched by art: a child's drawing on the refrigerator, the pages of a book that whisk us away, architecture that envelops us, music that melts away the stress of the day.

Art brings us to life. It heals us. It connects us to our family, our community, our world.

Inspire Community Fine Art Center is dedicated to art education in San Antonio, and exists to help others find the healing power of art through their own imaginations.

"Art Education seems to be disappearing. At Inspire Community Fine Art Center,  we focus on providing a resource for art education," Executive Director Susan Montagna said. "We give people an opportunity to discover their own creativity. It's what I'm passionate about."

But sometimes passion can only take you so far.

The vision, when incorporated in 2005, was to bring art education to the community. "As it grew, as we developed our outreach programs and we had more people looking to us, it became evident that it was getting to be too much for one person," Montagna said.

Quickly, classes started to fill, and opportunities came to light. Before long, Inspire had five community outreach programs in the city of San Antonio. Grants and private fundraising events were a main source of funds, but Inspire needed to take it a step further.

"We needed to figure out how to expand our development and fundraising to be more sustainable and generate more dependable income," Susan said.

That was more than three years ago. Susan turned to Kathy MacNaughton and went through KMAC & Associates' S.C.O.R.óE.™ program. Soon after beginning the process, ... read more

Client Profile: Pamela Kelly, RMI

"Reach out and take the first step... When you talk to one

person, it leads you to the next. The progression
to where you need to be takes on a life of its own."
~ Pamela Kelly, RMI

"I just got 'fired' yesterday by RMI, but it was expected and is a WONDERFUL thing!" ~ Kathy MacNaughton, KMAC & Associates

Well, there's something you don't hear every day. But when Kathy learned that her coaching services were no longer needed by Reaching Maximum Independence, Inc., it was music to her ears!

RMI's Executive Director Pamela Kelly explains, "We reached out to Kathy, who worked with us for almost six months to improve our visibility within the community and maximize our connections to generate the financial support needed. My two year plan was actually realized in six months!"...  read more
 Kathy's Commentary

"The test of a good coach is that when they leave,
others will carry on successfully."
~ Author Unknown

All of us need someone in our corner - a person urging us on, challenging us, encouraging our dreams, applauding and cheering our success.

At KMAC & Associates, our coaching services provide our clients with stepping stones to success in a nurturing atmosphere, crafted to the specific needs and goals of each organization.

For some, coaching is a way to get feedback on ideas, strategies and plans.

For others, the coaching process helps focus a development plan and strengthen relationship-building efforts. Still others find coaching a way to track their progress and map out their future.

Through the coaching process, I am proud to be in YOUR corner - and when you and your organization succeed, I am thrilled to celebrate with you.

"Think of yourself as on the threshold of unparalleled success.

A whole, clear, glorious life lies before you.

Achieve! Achieve!"
