The committee of tellers appointed by President Steve Wiese met on Tuesday, December 6 to count the ballots in the 2012 TREIA Board election. The results are now official. Congratulations to the following individuals who were elected to the six available seats. They will serve through 2013.

 

The new Board will be seated, officers elected, and Committee and Subcommittee chairs appointed at the first Board meeting of 2012 on Friday, January 20. Planning is under way for the first Policy Luncheon and Policy Committee meeting of 2012 on Thursday, January 19. Events on both days will take place at the OMNI Austin Hotel Downtown. Watch for details which will be circulated and posted in the TREIA web site Calendar of Events.

3,000 MW HVDC Transmission Project Between ERCOT And Other States Receives Key FERC Approvals

Pattern Energy Group LP (Pattern) today announced that its Southern Cross transmission project has obtained two key regulatory orders from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Pattern is developing the Southern Cross project to add a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission tie of up to 3,000 MW between ERCOT in Texas and the transmission grid deep in the southeastern United States by 2016.

Texas Proposal Gets Share Of DOE $12 Million Rooftop Solar Challenge 

Washington, D.C (December 1, 2011)

As part of the U.S. Department of Energy's SunShot Initiative, today Energy Secretary Steven Chu was joined by Lynn Jurich, the president and co-founder of the solar power company SunRun, and Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman to announce $12 million in funding for the awardees of the Rooftop Solar Challenge. The Challenge supports 22 regional teams to spur solar power deployment by cutting red tape - streamlining and standardizing permitting, zoning, metering, and connection processes - and improving finance options to reduce barriers and lower costs for residential and small commercial rooftop solar systems. This project is part of the Department's larger effort to make solar energy more accessible and affordable, increase domestic solar deployment, and position the U.S. as a leader in the rapidly-growing global solar market. Small Wind Certification Council Issues First Full Certification

This week SWCC issued its first full certification and consumer label to one of the largest small wind turbine manufacturers in the US market. The Bergey Windpower Excel 10 became the first turbine to complete the full SWCC certification process, earning a consumer label that specifies compliance with the AWEA Small Wind Turbine Performance and Safety Standard (AWEA Standard 9.1 - 2009).      

 

The consumer label shows the Rated Annual Energy, the Rated Sound Level and Rated Power. SWCC has also published an official certificate and a Summary Report for the turbine model, which contains the tabulated power curve and ... More>
PUC Offers Proposed Rule Change On Energy Storage Implementing SB 943

The Public Utility Commission of Texas has issued proposed amendments to P.U.C. SUBST. R. 25.192 and 25.501 labeled as Project No. 39917, Rulemaking on Energy Storage Issues. The proposed amendments provide that "electricity purchased by the owner or operator of energy storage equipment or facilities solely for later re-generation and re-sale as energy or ancillary services will be a wholesale transaction and will be settled nodally. New Energy Economy Partners Starting To Power Up San Antonio
