TREIA Annual Conference Holds Its Own In Challenging Times
Texas Renewables 2011 ReCap
During some of the toughest economic times in decades, at a city outside the usual Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas triangle, and barely two weeks after the largest solar conference in the Western Hemisphere in Dallas, we were pleased with the level of participation we had at Texas Renewables 2011 in Corpus Christi Nov. 6 - 9. Over 250 participants attended gaining information and insights from over 80 different presenters, and visiting about products and services with 30 exhibitors. An uncounted number of local area folks visited the exhibits which were open to the public on Monday and Tuesday.
PowerPoint presentations from the conference will be available on the TREIA web site initially linked from the Home Page. Not all of the sessions featured PowerPoints as there were some which were purely interactive panel discussions. Below are links to a couple of articles relating to the conference. Others may be found on the TREIA web site news scroll.

If you attended Texas Renewables 2011 you might have had this morning view.
TREIA member Josh Grubaugh with Recurrent Energy, winner of a new iPad at Texas Renewables 2011, is congratulated by conference Co-chair Hala Ballouz, Electric Power Engineers, donor of the prize.
ERCOT Board Chair, Laura Doll, Keynote Luncheon speaker, and Russel Smith, TREIA Exec. Director.

SMU Geothermal Lab Releases Groundbreaking New Research Funded By Google.org Dallas, TX (October 24, 2011)
New research from SMU's Geothermal Laboratory, funded by a grant from Google.org, documents significant geothermal resources across the United States capable of producing more than three million megawatts of green power - 10 times the installed capacity of coal power plants today.
Sophisticated mapping produced from the research, viewable via Google Earth at www.google.org/egs, demonstrates that vast reserves of this green, renewable source of power generated from the Earth's heat are realistically accessible using current technology.
