UPDATE on CURRICULUM NEWS from:
Barry A. Russell, Ph.D.

Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs

California Community Colleges

Chancellor's Office

The Chancellor's Office is in the process of releasing several new enhancements to guide your curriculum work.  The first two items will be released this summer at the Academic Senate Curriculum Institute - the (http://www.asccc.org/events/2012/07/curriculum-institute )newest edition of the Program and Course Approval Handbook (PCAH) and the new online Curriculum Inventory, version 2.  Both projects are taking a great deal of staff time to complete but will be available soon.  Recently we hosted a number of webinars with the assistance of the Academic Senate on the development of 1440 degrees for transfer.  In addition, we will be working over the coming year with various groups in the state to develop webinars or other supportive activities related to curriculum to better inform you about issues like noncredit approval, CTE program approval, high school diploma programs, and community education.  Our hope is to build resources in a manner that will be cost effective and informative.

During this development time period, you may have questions or need support.  You should continue to use curriculum@cccco.edu as your access point to the Chancellor's Office Academic Affairs Division staff.  If you have any questions, please feel to let me know.

2012 Labor Market Reports Now Available

Doing What Matters for Jobs and Economy starts with raising visibility for regional labor market needs and asking colleges to prioritize those needs when making decisions on budgets, courses and programs of study.

The CCCCO Centers of Excellence (CoE) just published 15 regional labor market profiles to help you refresh or start those capacity planning discussions with your regional partners. Access your economic region's report at www.coeccc.net/dwm.

A tip from CoE Initiative Director Elaine Gaertner (Elaine@elaineg.net), "Raise the visibility of the region's CTE needs with your college's leadership." Be sure to print and give a copy of this report to your college president/chancellor, chief instructional officer, chief business officer, and local Academic Senate leadership. The reports were designed to provide these leaders with key salient points.
