an INVITATION from
Anne Mc Monigle, CA Federation of Labor

WED would like to invite you to the California Labor Federation - Workforce and Economic Development Program's upcoming Building Workforce Partnerships Conference (BWP), Unemployed in America: Causes, Consequences, and Solutions.  This year's conference will be held at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles, March 14th - 16th, in Partnership with the BlueGreen Alliance Good Jobs/Green Jobs Western conference, March 15th - 16th .

California's labor force is in the midst of a major economic and demographic transformation.  This year's BWP will focus on the macroeconomics of our current economy and the elements of policies, programs, and strategies that proactively and effectively address the worst employment crisis since the Great Depression. The content will challenge participants to think creatively, or rethink the roles of community advocates, labor, the private sector, and government.

Speakers at this year's conference include:  Jared Bernstein from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (and former Chief Economic Advisor to Vice President Joe Biden) renowned columnist Harold Myerson, and Christine Owens, Executive Director of the National Employment Law Project, in addition to State WIB director Tim Rainey and Diane Ravnik from the Division of Apprenticeship Standards.

We are happy to extend the early bird registration rate through Friday, February 17th to our community college partners.  We look forward to collaborating with you in 2012 to move California's economy and workforce forward!
