Dear Colleagues:

Teams of volunteers from colleges in the Central Region are coming together via CCCconfer this month to plan "HOT TOPIC" workshop sessions for the Central Region Consortium's Annual Planning Conference, scheduled for June 1, 2, and 3, 2011, in Monterey.

The first workshop session, Budget Challenges & Innovations:  Easing Our Dependence on State Apportionment, will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011.   Strategies and tools for increasing your budgets in tough times will be shared by a panel of leaders representing CTE, Contract Education, and Economic & Workforce Development.  In addition, a second presentation will focus on developing auxiliary foundations to support CTE programs.

On Thursday and Friday, "HOT TOPICS" will focus on ways to "reinvent ourselves," developing priorities for our 2011-2012 Central Region work plan, and hearing reports from the CCCCO, our CTE Community Collaborative Projects, and EWD Regional Centers.  A full agenda for the conference will be posted to the Central Region Consortium Web site soon!

REGISTER TODAY, and CALL HOTEL PACIFIC at 800-554-5542 by MAY 2, 2011 for the group rate of $139 per night.  The group block is listed under Yosemite CCD/Central Region Consortium.

We look forward to your participation in this year's PLANNING & HOT TOPICS CONFERENCE!

PERKINS DATA COLLECTION
STUDENT SURVEYS to COLLECT PERKINS DATA

The CCCCO provides information on the different types of surveys that can be used to collect the appropriate student data. Some community colleges conduct student surveys at registration and some ask students to complete in-class surveys.

The Chancellor's Office web site provides detailed information about the different types of surveys that may be conducted and offers sample questions that should be asked to collect appropriate data.  A document you will find on the CCCCO Website entitled,Collecting Data for Special Populations, is a resource you can use to help ensure you are collecting the data you need for Perkins funding. The document is on the CCCCO website at http://www.cccco.edu/ChancellorsOffice/Divisions/EconDevWorkPrep/CTE/CoreIndicator/tabid/492/Default.aspx
