CTE ADMINISTRATORS:

The Statewide Advisory Committee for Career Development will be offering professional development training for counseling and career development professionals at the San Ramon Conference Center, January 26-28, 2011.  TWO seats are available for each college.  (The training is scheduled to begin at noon on the 26th and conclude by noon on the 28th.)

The theme, Connecting Students to Careers, will provide training on guiding students through a comprehensive career development system.  Led by Katharine Brooks, Ed.D., Licensed Professional Counselor, Nationally Certified Counselor, and author, participants will receive career training, a facilitator's manual and training notebook,
and a copy of You Majored in What? - Mapping Your Path from Chaos to Career, plus multiple other career development resources for your college.

To date, counseling and career development professionals from West Hills College Coalinga, San Joaquin Delta College, Reedley College, Porterville College (only 1), Bakersfield College (only 1) and Fresno City College have accepted the invitation to participate in this training.

Your help is needed to identify and invite the best people from counseling/advising, student services and/or work-based learning to represent your college and bring the training back to your campus and share it with colleagues.

Travel will be reimbursed, and each participant will receive a $500 stipend for completing training-related activities for up to TWO people from each campus.   For detailed information, see the link to the Connecting Students to Careers invitation.
We hope counseling and/or career development professionals from your college will be able to participate in this outstanding professional development opportunity!  If you have questions, please contact our Central Region Statewide Advisory Committee representative, Julie Preston-Smith.

Sincerely,
