SAFE TRUCK SOLUTIONS

DEL as a body builder is more than just that - we specialize in "truck body solutions."   With school being out, there will be alot more for drivers to be aware of... there are a few things we can do to make others more aware of you as well!

BackUpCamera

One of the many options available through DEL is BACK UP CAMERAS.  With the pressure we all deal with associated with "on time delivery" and "doing more with less", we get busy and distracted.   By using one of the camera options on a cube, (retail cost installed of around $600-700 dollars) drivers can avoid smashing into loading docks, buildings and above all, people!  This saves lives, costly repair bills, CVOR infractions, and even insurance rates. AmberStrobe

Along with cameras, DEL has access to "bells and whistles". An example of this would be the addition of a BACK UP ALARM on any truck. Compliment this with installing a couple of well placed STROBE or other flashing lights, and the opportunity for bad things to happen goes down incrementally!

When we speak of awareness, DEL can install larger MIRRORS so that, when you haul a bulky load or pull a trailer of some sort, as many of our friends and customers do, you can be aware of everything around you and put more of your own results within your control, saving time and money while keeping yourself and others safer.

ConspicuityTape

Some of the more simple and cost effective "solutions" we can attest to are the use of "conspicuity tape" or reflective stickers. This aids in the truck equipment being visible from a greater distance as well as being more visible at night.

On the more complicated truck bodies we can help with proxy sensors.  These can be set up as electronic indicators that a piece of equipment is either out of place and not stowed properly or a reminder that something is still engaged or operational.

These things are all considered "extras" but aid in keeping our customers more aware of themselves and those around them, as well as helping unsuspecting passers-by stay clear of danger...and yes, overall reduce your mounting equipment costs in comparison to the sometimes deadly and expensive outcomes.

I NEED A TRUCK

ServiceCell2Often we get calls from Customers saying "I need a truck", without understanding fully the end-user or their specific needs.

So I would like to offer a few questions you should ask the end-user that might help get the right truck with the right application in a van body.

  1. What type of cargo is being carried?  i.e. general delivery, service, skids or refrigerated application
  2. What is the expected payload (weight the truck can carry)?
  3. Does the truck need dock level application?
  4. Does the truck need a liftgate?  If so, what is the weight capacity required, what is the platform depth, what platform material is preferred (checker-plate steel or extruded aluminum)?
  5. Is there an interior height or floor height requirement?
  6. What length of body?
  7. Where is the end-user located: an urban environment or rural area? (With downtown delivery usually small and narrow is better and rural sometimes requires a 4x4 truck)
  8. What items are on the end-users' "Wish List"? - lighting, toolboxes, storage racks and holders, back-up alarms and cameras, bumper type, ramps, access doors, rear ladder, heavy duty roof racks, etc.

All these questions can help eliminate issues that can arise, however getting a DEL representative involved from the get-go with your end-user to determine what the appropriate equipment is for their current/planned requirements and to guide them through the buying process to ensure that the specified up-fit package will fully meet their expectations, can help make this process smooth and seamless with a better chance of a successful transaction.

Through many years DEL has developed a reputation for the manufacture of special truck equipment to suit particular requirements. The range is quite extensive, and we have built special and unique bodies for both large and small companies. Each item in a client's "wish list" is discussed as to feasibility, ease of use, and safety. With DEL's engineering and fabrication capabilities no job is too small or too large when it comes to special bodies and equipment.
