SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT FROM DEL

Through many years DEL has developed a reputation for the manufacture of special truck equipment to suit particular requirements. The range is quite extensive, and we have built special and unique bodies for both large and small companies. Each item in a client's "wish list" is discussed as to feasibility, ease of use, and safety. Sometimes it may be as simple as tweaking standard equipment to make your work easier. With DEL's engineering and fabrication capabilities no job is too small or too large when it comes to special bodies and equipment. We want to be your "rolling stock" advisors. If you have need of a special body that is tailored to your needs please contact us to discuss.

KISS or "Keep it simple stupid" is an anagram that I am sure you have all heard at one time or another throughout your childhood or career. If you are going to improve a widget than engineering it with changes that will make it smaller, stronger, lighter, with fewer parts is great as long as the changes don't result in something that is unnecessarily complicated or cumbersome to use or maintain. In the truck equipment industry we are often asked to add warning lights, sensors, proximity switches, interlocks and other electronic gizmos in an attempt to improve the functionality and safety of the overall package. After packages of this sort have been out in the field for a while, being used in less than ideal conditions by operators that aren't quite as skilled as expected, the fleet manager or owner is sometimes quite disappointed and frustrated by the downtime that he or she experiences. It is important to remember that as system complexity increases so does the likelihood of field problems, because lets face it, with truck equipment as with most things "the fewer the moving parts the less chance of failure".

There is a saying in engineering circles that "it is easy to come up with a complex solution yet difficult to come up with a simple one". Hookloaders are a good example of this. Many manufacturers equipment have sensors and hydraulic clamping systems whereas DEL's Swaploader system is simple and uncomplicated with no switches, warning lights or hydraulic locking devices. It uses low pressure hydraulics instead of a high pressure system with its greater strain on valves, fittings, hoses and connectors. The benefit to the customer is a reliable product that spends more time on the road making money instead of sitting in a repair shop due to failure or malfunction. DEL's bodies are built the same way, simple and clean without complicated levers or springs that can break, rust or seize up. We strive for clean and simple designs that offer low maintenance and years of uninterrupted use.

Don't get us wrong .... If a customer wants, warning lights, proximity switches, remote controls, hydraulic locking devises, etc we can and will integrate them into the overall system but we will always suggest that they bear the K.I.S.S. principle in mind!
