POCONOS EMBRACE LEARN A SNOWSPORT MONTH
A nationwide declaration of "Learn a Snowsport Month" has prompted the Pocono Mountains (800poconos.com) to afford all abilities the chance to enjoy the winter season.
Boasting eight ski areas, employing more than 1,000 instructors and offering equally varied terrain, the four-county region is the ideal place to learn and progress with a snowsport. 
To encourage more visitors to hit the slopes, many of the eight mountains are offering deeply discounted deals on Learn to Ski or Ride packages this month:
Every Friday after 4pm, Alpine Mountain is offering $25 packages, including lift ticket, lesson, rental and food voucher.
Every Sunday, Blue Mountain Ski Area is offering their visitors half off their "Learn to Ski Program," which includes lift ticket, lesson and rental for $28.50.
Camelback Mountain Resort is offering an online package for skiers or snowboarders on Tuesdays and Thursdays that includes lift ticket, lesson and rental for $29.
An online coupon for Shawnee Mountain offers patrons a lift ticket, lesson and ski or snowboard rental any day of the month for $59.

PMVB Quarterly Marketing Meeting Jan. 27
Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau holds its next Quarterly Marketing Meeting on Thursday, January 27th at the French Manor Inn and Spa. It will begin at 10:30 AM and, for those who are interested, there will be lunch served afterwards at noon. 
Lunch is $20 per person and cash/check payments will be collected upon arrival to the meeting.
Discussion topics will include a recap of the current winter co-op campaign and a look ahead to the spring/summer season, including an unveiling of our plans for the spring/summer co-op campaign. Those who attend the meeting will be the first to see what advertising opportunities are going to be available in this campaign.
Also, if you feel the need to unwind or would like to extend your visit, the French Manor Inn and Spa wishes to offer a 30% discount off any spa service on January 27th as well as a 50% discount on lodging for either January 26th or 27th. To redeem these discounts, you must call 570-676-3244 and mention you are a PMVB member and will be attending the PMVB marketing meeting. Advanced reservations of at least 48 hours is preferred for all spa services.

Bach and Handel Chorale Open Rehearsals
The Bach and Handel Chorale is holding open rehearsals and auditions for the 2011 season on Monday evening, January 10th and Monday evening January 17th, at 7:30 p.m., in the 2nd floor chorale rehearsal room, located at St. John's Lutheran Church, 319 South Avenue in Jim Thorpe, PA.
Interested singers may attend and sing through the rehearsal with the chorale and remain for the short audition at the conclusion of rehearsal. A simple audition consisting of pitch match ing, vowel formation and the sight reading of a Bach chorale is required.

The chorale will be preparing for its Easter Concert, a benefit concert, and the performance of Handel's complete "Messiah" in December 2011.
