WVCCS NEW MEMBERSHIP MODEL
As you all know, the West Vancouver Community Centres Society (WVCCS) is a not-for-profit Society that is governed by community members. The Society provides oversight and management to the Community Centre and Aquatic Centre through a Joint Operating Agreement with the District of West Vancouver.
We have been successful in bringing community members closer to the decisions made about the Centres. This has greatly enhanced program development, fiscal management and the overall positive impact our Centres have on the community. We have also purchased some needed equipment.
After two years of successful operation, our Society is moving to a new membership model that will provide our community and Society with exciting opportunities and capabilities. This membership model has worked well in other community centres in Vancouver but is new to West Vancouver.
The revised membership model means a Society membership is now going to be required in order to register for any Aquatic or Community Centres programs, or to purchase a 1 month, 3 month or Annual WAVE or Spirit Pass. This change comes into effect August 24th, 2011, which is Registration Day for the Fall and Winter programs.
The cost of a one-year membership is $3 per individual or $5 per family. A Family membership is for one or two adults of the same household and their children or youth up to 18 years of age. Individual membership is required for any person 14 years or older who does not fall under a Family membership.
Look for membership posters, postcards and online information advising of the new membership requirement, together with our FAQ sheet. All Community and Aquatic Centre Staff are available to answer your queries and assist you with any further information.
The Society is looking forward to working hard on your behalf in the coming year to ensure that our Community Centre is truly a "Centre of Excellence".

Farewell to Al Thompson
|
It is with regret that we announce the resignation from the Society of one of our inaugural Directors, Al Thompson. Al held the Vice-Chair and Secretary positions as well as being involved in several committees. He generously offered his expertise, enthusiasm and commitment to bring added benefit to the Community and Aquatic Centres. He will be missed by all who serve on the Society Board and we wish him well in his future endeavours. Thanks Al! | |
