Circles of EmpowermentNEWSLETTER September 2011

Message from Hua
Hua Anwa, Metis Elder

Blessings to all... This year's Wisdom Keeper & Youth Council at Deer Mountain was remarkable. This gathering offered by Earth Peoples United continues to contribute to the cohesive bonding of the four corn people. One of the most profound moments was shown by the youth, while the easy and difficult embracing of the indigenous spiritual expression was quite profound.  The movements within covered great distances.  I feel humbled and honored to be a part of this gathering.  I carried you all with me, and I will share more as I integrate the experiences and lessons.  I will walk them openly for all to share in.  On my return,  Long Dance has been sweetly and gently birthing itself around me.

I look forward to this year's gathering.  I am amazed at how each year has seemed better than the last for the past 21 years.  I hope to see you at Long Dance this year, that we may come together and embrace each other and birth each other into a new paradigm of awareness.

The dates for this year's ceremony are auspicious and connected to many other things that are going on, all lending to the promise of the ceremony.  It's beginning to feel a lot like Long Dance, everywhere I go.  See you there!

Together in ceremony,  Hua

CLASS with Hua: Empowerment Thru Ritual and Ceremony. Weds & Thurs Sept 7 & 8th, 10 - 5 pm plus potluck lunches.

Throughout the year,  Hua offers her class "Empowerment Through Ritual and Ceremony" as an enrichment for the community.    Hua's teachings about sacred plants, the medicine wheel, feathers, shamanic journeying, shielding, opening the throat chakra and many more juicy and powerful lessons have been universally called extraordinary by those fortunate enough to attend.

This is also highly recommended background and training for those who are interested in deepening their practice by becoming a Firekeeper, Water Pourer, Pipe Carrier or other leadership role.  Advanced level classes are sometimes offered to those who have first taken this set of classes.

Offered at a reduced price of $150 for Long Dancers.  All others get the bargain rate of $182 for two full days of material, plus goodies. Open to creative reciprocity.  Both days are required.  A non-refundable deposit of $50 is also required to hold your place.  Out of towners are welcome to stay on Church grounds.  Contact Hua for more details.

BACKGROUND:

Sweat Lodges were given to the people all over the world, thousands of years ago to help improve their lives.  The Sweat Lodge is a sacred place to explore, develop and enhance our relationship to "All That Is" and it acts as an accelerator to spiritual growth.  The ceremony is a powerful way to pray, and it cleanses us, heals us and helps us to grow.

Wisdom Corner

"You have noticed that everything as Indian does is in a circle, and that is because the Power of the World always works in circles, and everything tries to be round..... The Sky is round, and I have heard that the earth is round like a ball, and so are all the stars. The wind, in its greatest power, whirls. Birds make their nest in circles, for theirs is the same religion as ours....

Even the seasons form a great circle in their changing, and always come back again to where they were. The life of a man is a circle from childhood to childhood, and so it is in everything where power moves."
