  • Japanese Year Long

Although all the contact information for the coordinators, any updates or forms can be found on the Michigan 4-H web site under the Global and Cultural Education program, we are publishing this Special Edition of Michigan 4-H Today with a description of each program, its coordinator and the names of the students for whom we are seeking host families.

 

When you call or email the coordinator of one of these programs, be sure to let him or her know in which county you are located.

Belize Summer Inbound Program

Roxanne Turner, coordinator for this program, is in need of host families for Belizean youth, young adults and a chaperone. They will be coming for 4-H Exploration Days, attending sessions and learning more about 4-H at Explorations Days and during their host family stays. Roxanne is now in the process of receiving biographies for these Belizean 4-H members. Japan Summer Inbound Program

This program needs host families with youth who are within a two-year age range of the Japanese delegates (who are ages 12 to 16). They are all listed below. The Japanese students have applied and are ready to travel and meet their host families in Michigan. Brian Wibby, the coordinator for the incoming delegates from Japan, has placed 18 youth out of the 50 needing host families. Listed below are the Japanese youth who still need homes. If you would like to see pictures of the youth, you may do so on the Internet.

  • Maryna Age: 15 Gender: Female. Maryna is from Ukraine and is Orthodox Christian. She likes horseback riding, pets, drama, listening to music, movies and reading. She walks with a slight limp, needs extra time for fine motor tasks like writing.
  • Darya Age: 15 Gender: Female. Darya is from Russia and is Orthodox Christian. She enjoys swimming, ice skating, movies, cooking, and school clubs like the chess team and wants to be a doctor. No allergies.
  • Daryna Age: 15 Gender: Female. Daryna is from Ukraine and is Orthodox Christian. She has been class president, and school newspaper editor. She would like to join a community service club. Her hobbies are basketball, jogging, cooking, movies, playing cards/game and playing with pets. She is from a rural area.
  • Ohla Age: 15 Gender: Female. She enjoys camping, scouting, bicycling, aerobic dancing and listening to pop music. She would like to join school clubs and likes to travel.
  • Yuliya Age: 15 Gender: Female. She is from Ukraine and is Christian. She enjoys her swim team, pets, listening to music, singing, movies, reading and spending time with friends. Her hobbies are art and photography.
  • Anastasiya H Age: 16 Gender: Female. Anastasiya is from Ukraine and is Orthodox Christian. She enjoys playing the guitar, listing to music, attending concerts, likes to do art and drawing, She likes classic films and theater. Her hobbies are computers, reading and bicycling.
  • Anastasiya K Age: 16 Gender: Female. She is from Russia and enjoys making handmade crafts, painting and drawing. She likes dance, yoga, movies and reading.
  • Gulruh Age: 16 Gender: Female. Gluruh is from Turkmenistan and is a Muslim. She enjoys volleyball, table tennis, cooking, reading, playing cards, watching TV, listening to music, and spending time with friends. Note: She does not eat pork. Wants to join school clubs.
  • Mariami Age: 16 Gender: Female. Mariami if from Georgia and is Orthodox Christian. She has been involved with Model Parliament. Her hobbies are swimming and bicycling. She enjoys debate, drama, volley ball, tennis and would like to try golf. She spends time reading, shopping and spending time with friends.
  • Sariya Age: 16 Gender: Female. Sariya is from Russia and is a Muslim. She likes basketball, swimming competitively various types of dance and choreography and volunteering. Note: She does not eat pork.
  • Anastasiya F Age: 17 Gender: Female. She is from Russia and is Orthodox Christian. Enjoys volleyball, hockey, soccer, volunteering with children ballet, gardening, and likes physics classes.

  • Ekaterine Age: 17 Gender: Female. She likes listening to music, likes jazz, sewing, reading and folk dancing. She is involved with civics projects and volunteering and Youth Parliament and student government.
  • Valeriya Age: 17 Gender: Female. Her interests and hobbies are tennis, Pilates, theater, art/drawing, gymnastics, ballroom dancing, movies, listening to music, and volunteering. Note: Loves big dogs and wants to become a veterinarian.
  • Ariet Age: 15 Gender: Male. Ariet is from Kyrgyzstan and is a Muslim. He enjoys wrestling, debate club, volunteering, soccer, singing "beatbox" music and having pets around. Note: He goes eat pork.
  • Njat Age: 15 Gender: Male. Njat is from Azerbaijan and is Muslim. He enjoys basketball, swimming, computer programming, playing the "tar" (traditional instrument from his country), listening to music and playing video games. Note: He does not eat pork.
  • Ilia Age: 16 Gender: Male. Ilia is from Georgia and is Orthodox Christian. He likes wrestling, basketball, soccer, chess, volunteer projects, school clubs, video games and pets. He is interested in trying American football.
