Special Edition

4-H Discovery Camp Registration Deadline  is May 1!

4-H Discovery Camp is held July 9-13 on the MSU Campus, but the deadline to register is just a week away on May 1. This is a unique opportunity for youth ages 13 to 19 to explore ideas, research and opportunities in the field of energy as it relates to natural resources and agriculture - and it's a great opportunity for them to see what college life is like, as participants spend 5 days living on campus. Best of all, it is a tremendous value at just $150 for 4-H members ($160 for nonmembers)! You won't find another 5-day camp, with all lodging, meals, field trips and materials included, for just $30 a day.

Discover Camp participant in a labCampers will tour on-campus labs, visit the Kellogg Biological Station, tour a farm that makes biodiesel fuel from soybeans, help a bioenergy company turn corn into ethanol, visit a wind farm and see how MSU's T. B. Simon Power Plant is moving towards green-energy solutions.

To attend, potential campers need to complete the 2012 Michigan 4-H Discovery Camp Application Pack and email it to Holly Lacina by May 1.

Visit the 4-H Discovery Camp page (press first link above) on the Michigan 4-H Youth Development web site to find out more about this camp that is both educational and fun. Contact Dr. Jake DeDecker by email or by phone at 517-432-7604, with any questions.
