Interviewing Skills and Mentor Screening (Workshop 7014)

September 20th 9:30 am- 4:00 pm

NorthStar Cooperative, Lansing

In this interactive session, participants learn about the various components of a quality volunteer screening process and have an opportunity to use their new skills in a practice interview.  Not only do participants learn what to do during the screening process, but they also learn what signs to look for that might indicate that a volunteer is not the right match for a program.  These red flags tell interviewers and trainers which volunteers may not have the qualities a program is looking for.

Over 120 professionals have participated in this session and 44% of participants who completed the evaluation found the session to be "Extremely Useful" and 56% rated the session "Very Useful". Here is what others have said about this workshop.

"I found the session quite useful because it helped me to think about red flags, taught me how to ask the right questions, and helped me to figure out what type of person would be the best fit for our program."

"I have implimented a number of suggestions made at the training in my program. Thank you!"

"The materials were presented in a very effective way. It was clear, concise, and felt like the facilitators treated us with respect and were there to help us learn something new."

"The practice interview with scenarios was a very helpful excercise for me.  I learned a lot!"
