Just a Week Away!
If you haven't made plans to "Get Back", time is running out.  This year's Homecoming festivities include our annual "Get Back BBQ" on Friday night at the Windows to the Future Lawn followed by the crowning of our Homecoming king and queen at the Hawks' pep rally.  Saturday's events include an early morning 5K Hawk Run/Walk sponsored by the cross country team.  We invite our alumni to join us at 11:00 in Brenner Library's Gray Gallery for a question and answer session with Quincy University President Bob Gervasi followed by the first ever President's Homecoming Luncheon at noon.  Join us that evening for a Hawks Pre-Game Cookout out at Flinn Stadium prior to the Hawks' football game against the University of Indianapolis.  After the game, meet up with friends to cap off the weekend at the Alumni Late Night Gathering in the Hawks' Nest.  Sunday's events include our annual Alumni Memorial Mass at 9:00 and a Farewell Brunch in the cafeteria afterwards.  For a detailed list of events, or to see who all has registered to attend, visit the QU site.
Homecoming Pre-Pay Events
While most of the weekend's events are free or can be paid for in person, if you plan to participate in the Hawk 5K Run/Walk on Saturday morning or the President's Homecoming Luncheon on Saturday afternoon, we strongly encourage you to pre-pay online.  The Hawk 5K Run/Walk is $15 per person and the President's Homecoming Luncheon is $30.  Paying in advance will greatly help to expedite the in-person registration process.  You can register for one or both events on our Homecoming site.
Blessing of the Athletes
On August 27, over 350 Quincy University athletes from all sports gathered in the chapel for the annual Blessing of the Athletes ceremony.  Coaches from ranging sports as well as several Friars and university community members delivered positive speeches dedicated to our Hawks and Lady Hawks as they embark on their 2012-13 seasons.  Visit our YouTube channel for an inspiring video captured at the event.
Gervasi Takes On Chicago Half Marathon
Quincy University President (and avid marathoner) Robert Gervasi is gearing up to run in the 16th annual Chicago Half Marathon on September 9.  To commemorate the achievement, Dr. Gervasi is asking supporters to contribute to the QU Chapel's restoration fund.  For more information on the Chapel restoration initiative, or to make an online gift in celebration of Dr. Gervasi's run, visit the QU site.
