Jack Mackenzie Announces Retirement
After an illustrious and highly-decorated collegiate coaching career, Jack Mackenzie is stepping down as the head coach of the Quincy University men's soccer team.  In his 43 years as head coach of the Hawks, Jack collected a total of 516 wins (third among all Division II coaches) in addition to nine NAIA national championships including five straight from 1977 to 1981.  Jack is a member of the Quincy University Sports Hall of Fame (1979), the NAIA Hall of Fame (1989) and the St. Louis Players Hall of Fame (1997).

Mackenzie is not leaving the soccer program entirely.  Instead he is stepping into the role of assistant coach/consultant under newly-appointed head coach Mike Carpenter.  Carpenter is a 2002 graduate of QU and has spent the past nine years on the coaching staff.  After eight years as an assistant coach, Carpenter was named associate head coach prior to the 2011 season.  Carpenter is only the fourth head coach in the program's 48-year history.

For more on Jack's retirement announcement and/or his legacy with Quincy soccer, visit the Hawks' athletic site.
Cincinnati Alumni Day at the Ballpark
For the first time ever, Quincy University is hosting a Cincinnati-area Alumni Day at the Ballpark on August 25 as the division-leading Cincinnati Reds take on the rival St. Louis Cardinals.  Tickets are $45 each and include a commemorative t-shirt.  Join us prior to the game at nearby Toby Keith's I Love This Bar for a pre-game gathering.  Visit the alumni website for details or to purchase tickets.
Get Back to Where You Once Belonged
Homecoming 2012 is just a few weeks away!  Join us September 14-16 for the annual festivities.  Some of this year's highlights include Friday night's "Get Back BBQ", Saturday's Homecoming Luncheon, as well as gatherings in the Hawks' Nest and the newly-debuted "Qyo" frozen yogurt shop.  For a full list of events, visit the Homecoming page on the QU site.
QU Honors Colorado Victims
To honor the victims of the recent theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado, Quincy University hosted a memorial service on August 2 in the St. Francis Solanus Chapel.  Students, alumni, and friends from all around the community were in attendance.  The evening's memorial service was made possible in part by the Quincy fire and police departments.
