Minority and women-owned businesses looking for opportunities to provide services to GCS or public universities, colleges and local government agencies can learn more at the first Gate City Minority Business Opportunity Fair on Thursday, Feb. 9, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Galleria Events Center, 1325 S. Eugene St., Greensboro. The business fair is supported by the East Market Street Development Corporation and GCS.

Allen Middle Students Enjoy New Classrooms, Gym

Allen Middle students are using the new classroom addition.

A new classroom and auxiliary gym addition is now in use by the students at Allen Middle.

 

"Building C" was designed to accommodate an additional 166 students.

 

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will officially mark the completion of the building, which is currently 99 percent complete.

Dudley English Building Complete, Ribbon-Cutting Scheduled

An additional 100 students can be served by the renovated Dudley English Building.

Renovations to the Dudley High English Building are complete, and the new classrooms are in use. The upgraded facility can serve an additional 100 students.

 

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 10 a.m. on Dudley High's campus. The public is invited to attend.

Southeast High Gym Addition Already Welcoming Visitors

Southeast High's new gym is ready for basketball season.

Basketball fans are already enjoying the new facilities at Southeast High.

 

The gym addition was completed in January, and the first game was played Jan. 10.

 

Included in the project were new coaches' offices, classrooms, multipurpose rooms and locker rooms.

McLeansville Elementary Media Center Taking Shape

Lighting and flooring are being installed at McLeansville Elementary.

A new media center and classroom addition at McLeansville Elementary is making marked progress.

 

Interior work continues as lighting and flooring are installed and walls are painted in classroom areas. Wall framing for media center offices is also under way.

 

The project is about 90 percent complete.

Bond Money Approved to Fund Maintenance Projects
  

Thirty Guilford County Schools (GCS) projects have received funding to pay for much-needed upgrades, thanks to recent action by the Board of County Commissioners in Guilford County.

 

At its Jan. 19 meeting, the Board approved the transfer of funds remaining from the 2000 and 2003 school bonds in the amount of $6,272,856.81 to be used for a variety of purposes, including roof repairs, HVAC improvements and carpet replacements.
