One More Student Assignment Forum
To Be Held Tonight
 

GCS invites the public to share feedback on student assignment boundaries at an upcoming public forum. The forum will be held at 7 p.m. today,

Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Page High School, 201 Alma Pinnix Drive, Greensboro.

 

The Board of Education is seeking input on a series of boundary changes, including the creation of new boundaries for Ronald E. McNair Elementary. 

Other school changes may affect Colfax Elementary, Pearce Elementary, Southwest Elementary, Eastern High, Northeast High, Eastern Middle, Northeast Middle, Rankin Elementary and Madison Elementary.

Groundbreaking, Ribbon-Cutting Held
 
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Sunday, Nov. 20, for the work that was recently completed at Southeast Middle School. The school received a new gym, media center and classroom addition.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Friday, Oct. 28, for Ronald E. McNair Elementary on North Yanceyville Road. More details about that project can be found above.

Ronald E. McNair Elementary Starting Support Structure

Steel framing is being installed at the future Ronald E. McNair Elementary.

Foundation and framing is in progress at the site of the district's newest elementary school, Ronald E. McNair Elementary. The school, which is scheduled to open next year, will serve about 700 students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

Southwest High Students Enjoying New Media Center, Classrooms

The new Southwest High gym is ready for use after its official opening in December.

At Southwest High, a new media center and classroom wing is in use, and the auxiliary gym awaits finishing touches. Progress has also been made on the new tennis courts.

 

Earlier this month, the Board of Education approved the naming of the Southwest High gym on behalf of James C. Coggins, a longtime teacher and wrestling coach. The gym will be dedicated with events on Dec. 15 and 16. For more details call the school at 819-2970.

Allen Middle Auxiliary Gym, Classroom Space Making Progress

At Allen Middle, window frame installation is complete and windows are being installed in the new auxiliary gym. Overhead mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins are nearing completion.

 

Painting, interior wall and ceramic tile installations are underway throughout the building.

Ragsdale High "Link" Building Taking Shape

Framing is under way at Ragsdale.

At Ragsdale High, construction is well under way on the "link" building, which will join the existing Ragsdale campus with the former Jamestown Middle building.

 

Earlier this summer, Jamestown Middle was converted into offices and ninth-grade classroom space. Parking additions will be included in the project as well.

McLeansville Media Center Gets Roof Installation

Roof work continues at McLeansville.

A new roof was added recently to the addition at McLeansville Elementary.

 

The new building, which will blend with a portion of the existing media center, will house a new media center and six additional classrooms.  

 

Dudley High Prepares for Athletic Upgrades

Site preparation has begun at Dudley High, where the football field will have a new look next year. Work includes a new field house and seating on both the home and visitor sides of the stadium.
