Collin County Ballet Theatre
On Pointe News

December 16, 2009
From The Directors:

A little seed was planted about eight years ago. It was not a seed that would produce food for nutrition but a seed that had hopes of producing a ballet company that could grow strong and that would enrich the soul with dance. With careful planning, great people and a clear vision, strong roots for this ballet company have been secured in the Collin County area. Thus, Collin County Ballet Theatre now has firm ground and is primed to grow incredibly tall.

With the 2009-2010 season under way, we are on the doorsteps of our annual "Nutcracker" with the Plano Symphony Orchestra on December 23rd, which, by the way, is the only production in the Dallas Fort Worth area with live music. On December 19th, we continue with our tradition of public performances in the Frisco community with support funding from the Frisco Association for the Arts. We hope that you include this fun production in your family holiday plans.

The season will close with a dramatic flare with Stravinsky's "Firebird" performed on April 3rd at Centennial High School in Frisco.  In the spring, our dancers will be traveling to San Antonio, Texas to participate in the 2010 Regional Dance America, Southwest Festival of dance.

As you can see, this young ballet company has an exciting future. What a challenge! We think not, because there is such a great group of volunteers and people that believe in the mission of Collin County Ballet Theatre. Our profile in the community is becoming larger, we are branching out into many directions of the county, and we are enriching the hearts of so many with the art of dance. This season will truly be remembered as the time that Collin County Ballet Theatre blossomed into a strong ballet company.

Sincerely,

Kirt & Linda Hathaway
