Announcing the Guest Artists from the American Ballet Theatre
Collin County Ballet Theatre is pleased to announce the guest artists who will be dancing in the December 23rd performance of The Nutcracker.
Jessica Saund
American Ballet Theatre
Jessica Saund, formerly a member of English National Ballet,
began her dance training with California Ballet and later studied at the Kirov
Academy of Ballet in Washington,
DC on full scholarship. In 1996,
she joined the Washington School of Ballet under the direction of Mary Day.
That same year, Saund took the Gold Medal in the junior division in the II
International Ballet Competition in South America.
In 1999, she was invited to study with Le Jeune Ballet de France in Paris.
Saund's repertoire with English National Ballet included the Fairy Godmother,
Winter Fairy and Oriental Princess in Cinderella, Arabian Princess in The
Nutcracker, Rosaline in Rudolf Nureyev's Romeo and Juliet, Big Swans
and pas de trois and the Spanish Dance in Swan Lake and leading roles in
Raymonda, Paquita and Michael Corder's Melody on the Move.
Saund joined American Ballet Theatre as a member of the corps de ballet in
January 2006. Her repertoire with the Company includes the Countess in The
Sleeping Beauty, the Spanish Princess and the Spanish Dance in Swan Lake.
Roman Zhurbin
American Ballet Theatre
Roman Zhurbin was born in Moscow, Russia
and came to the United
States at 13. He began his ballet training
at 15 at LaGuardia
High School under the
direction of Michelle Mathesius, Joey Smith, Michele Benash and Eddie Shelman.
During his high school years Zhurbin also trained at Studio Maestro with
Francois Perron, Debra Wingert and Marina Stavitskaya. In 2003, he attended
American Ballet Theatre's Summer Intensive Program and was asked to join ABT's
Studio Company.
Zhurbin joined American Ballet Theatre as an apprentice in April 2004 and
became a member of the corps de ballet in April 2005. His roles with the
Company include the High Brahmin in La Bayadère, the Pasha in Le
Corsaire, Lysander in The Dream, the Father in Fall River Legend,
the Duke in Giselle, The Man She Must Marry in Jardin aux Lilas,
Monsieur GM in Manon, the Baron in The Merry Widow, Drosselmeyer
in The Nutcracker, the Moor and the Chief Coachman in Petrouchka,
Lord Capulet and Lord Montague in Romeo and Juliet and von Rothbart, the
Spanish Dance and the Lead Czardas in Swan Lake and roles in Baker's
Dozen, Brief Fling, Company B, Dark Elegies, Désir and The Leaves Are
Fading.
Zhurbin created the role of the Fiance's Father in On the Dnieper.
