Greetings!
 I don't know about you, but we at Surface are ready for Spring. Maybe it's because of the nearly 50 degree day we had last week. Maybe we've just had enough of the snow. Or maybe it's the breath of fresh air we're all experiencing with the arrival of our newest artist. Yes, Surface has a new member! We are SO happy to welcome Jennifer Kane, a fabulous oil painter, to the co-op! Be sure to stop in to see her work and get to know Jennifer.  What's Going on at Surface?
Fundraiser to Benefit Women's Resource Center April 1, 2010
10AM - 6PM
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and to honor this, we will be holding a fundraising event at Surface on April 1 to benefit the Centre County Women's Resource Center. 15% of our total sales from that day will go to the Women's Resource Center, so come in and shop in support of a cause that is so vital to our community!
Facebook Shoot-Out

Also to benefit the Women's Resource Center, Heidi Lynne Photography will be holding a Facebook Shoot-Out event on April 1 at Surface. By giving a $20 donation to the Women's Resource Center, Heidi will shoot a fabulous photo of you to share on Facebook (or wherever else you'd like).  Getting to Know Kelly Green Barter
How did the Kelly Green Gallery get started?
I began creating for others several years ago. I painted a few murals and it just grew from there. Through referrals and word of mouth, my business has grown and expanded into areas i had never considered. In addition to murals and decorative painting, I have found myself consulting for remodeling projects, designing kitchens and bathrooms, creating names and logos for businesses, and helping people push their ideas out of the box.
What is the best part about doing what you do?
My best day has me standing in front of a blank wall with paint on my brush and a client who trusts my vision. I love that every project i work on has different challenges and a unique and exciting outcome.
Do you have any news to share?
Yes!
I will soon be offering private and semi-private art lessons for kids in grades 6 through 12. Classes will be tailored to each students' ability and interest with an emphasis on creativity and self-expression through various 2D materials.
In addition, I will be offering 2 summer camps tentatively scheduled for the week of June 21 for grades 10 - 12 and the week of July 12 for grades 6 - 9.
Classes and camps will be offered on a very limited basis.

 Getting to Know Staci Egan
When and how did you get started with Contempo Jewelry?
11 years ago. I was a lonely new mommy and I treated myself to a brand new handmade necklace that I bought online. When I received I thought "I can make this" and the rest is history!
How has Surface changed your life and business?
Last year I have became incredibly self sufficient. Now that I work with all of my "sisters", I see the true value of working as a group. Bouncing ideas off of each other, putting on events together, I continue to get inspired. Why is it important to you that the community support local businesses?
I am a huge supporter of buying local. If we all supported each other in the community, we would all be wealthy. Of course, Surface is near and dear to your heart; aside from Surface, what is your favorite local establishment and why?
There's a few: Webster's - I love all of their local and fresh foods, coffee drinks and friendly service Gallery Shop - about 50 Central Pennsylvania Artists Tait Farm - wonderful gourmet foods and artwork in a beautiful setting Do you have any upcoming events?I'm so excited about the Intimate Bridal Showcase presented by Simply Elegant Gowns, Events by Hart and Contempo Jewelry. I would love it if you would join us Thursday Feb 25th - Saturday Feb 27th. Talk with our experts, enjoy complimentary snacks and a chance to win lots of prizes all supplied from local vendors.
