COHE Members
January 24, 2012
Greetings!

Our lobbyists with the South Dakota Education Association in Pierre track all bills in the state legislature that may be of interest to our members.  Of course, they understand COHE's main focus this legislative session is to support the governor's proposal for a three percent increase to the salary pool and a five percent offset to all state employees.

In tracking legislation, they often need a quick response to bills as they appear before committees.  They have identified Senate Bill 79, sponsored by Senators Brown, Holien, Olson (Russell), Peters, and Tidemann and Representatives Cronin, Hansen (Jon), and Venner which would "require undergraduate students to pay the self-support rate of tuition for certain credit hours in excess of the credit hours required for the student's baccalaureate degree program."

Please reply immediately with your views on this proposal.   What should COHE's response be?
