COHE Members - Imposed Contract
December 11, 2011
Greetings!

As I prepare to leave for the Black Hills and several meetings on your behalf this week, I want to provide you with more information.  I understand you are probably winding down the semester, so I will be brief.

Contract to Be Imposed

Stamped

At its meeting this week, the BOR will move to impose interim terms for our contract.  Here is the BOR's staff memo.   It will include the three items on which we disagreed.  As approved by the state COHE Board, I will formally request the SDEA General Counsel to proceed on a lawsuit asserting an unfair labor practice on their removal of Intellectual Property as a bargain-able item.

Also, as approved by the state COHE Board, I will seek to begin a new round of negotiations, with likely meetings February through May 2012.   I have prepared a list of items I have heard from members and others in the last year.   I discussed it with the SDSU Chapter last Thursday and will discuss it with others at Mines and BH this coming week.  We will schedule meetings at the three remaining schools for January.  We will also survey all COHE members and non-members on these (and possibly other) issues with a closing date around February 1, 2012.   Please be sure to complete this survey (once it is up and running) and encourage others as well.

ALSO OF INTEREST

The BOR is also receiving a report on an Academic Calendar Proposal.

In April 2012, COHE will be electing two statewide officers: Secretary and Treasurer.  We are in dire need of a candidate for the former, as we have not had a secretary for several years.  If you are interested in serving, please contact your chapter president or reply to this message.
